Carvey CNC — Guidelines and Standard
Operating Procedures
The purpose of this document is to document the use of the Carvey CNC in the FLC Innovation
Center. This machine allows users to carve two-dimensional shapes into assorted materials.
Usage:
Handling the Vinyl Cut
1. Take your completed vinyl material and peel off the material using a probe from the tool
box.
2. Cut the relevant section of your sheet.
3. Apply a contact sheet to the surface.
Ensuring best cut quality:
• Follow all instructions in this manual for preparing a design and using the machine.
• Create a single colored vector image for your design. The simpler the shapes and angles, the

• Do a small test cut with your material to ensure that your settings and setup are good.
• Place the contact paper on your vinyl before cutting the relevant section of your sheet.

• Always turn off the vinyl cutter when it’s not in use.
• Never leave the vinyl cutter unattended while a job is in process.
• Keep your fingers and hair away from the machine while the cutting arm is in operation.
