Checklist for the Preparation of CNC Turning and Milling Program
Prepared by Prof. Neri Volpato, Ph.D.
Note. Considering that the raw material and the device have already been properly defined.
of fixation, the tools and the CNC machine.
Start of the Program
• Header informed with identification of the program, programmer, machine, etc.?
• Identified which reference system of the part to be used (ZP -G54, G55, etc.)?
• Informed if you will be working in millimeters or inches?
• In the case of the lathe, if it is working with continuous bar feeding, it is provided for in
program the positioning of a stopper to define the length of the raw material of
automatic form?
At Each Tool Change
• Is the tower (or the magazine) positioned for tool change?
• Comment inserted with identification of the tool for the operation to be performed by
tool?
• Has the tool length compensation been activated?
• Informed whether to work with constant Cutting Speed (Vc) or Rotation (n)
constant?
• Informed if the advance (f) of work will be in mm/min or mm/rev?
• Have the values of f, n (or Vc) been informed?
At Each Start of Machining Operation
• Was the tree rotation enabled?
• Was the refrigerator turned on?
• Was the tool brought close to the part with rapid advance?
• In the case of milling, was the approach made observing safety (X, Y then Z)?
• Comment inserted with identification of the operation to be performed by the tool?
• The values of Vc, f, and cutting depth (ap) are suitable for the tool material.
to the material of the part and the operation to be performed?
• Has the machine's cutting power been exceeded?
• If you are going to work with radius compensation, has this compensation been activated?
• Was the lightning compensation deactivated at the end of the operation?
• In the case of milling, the cutting direction of the material (concordant or discordant) was
respected?
• Left some overmetal for the finishing operation, or in other words, divided the
roughing and finishing operation?
• Does the chosen machining process meet the tolerances required for the part?
At Each Scheduled Stop for Operator Intervention
• Inserted a comment with the identification of the operator's intervention?
• Was there a change in the reference system of the part to be used (ZP -G54, G55, etc.)?
• The tool is positioned far enough from the part to allow access to the
operator?
• Did you turn off the soda?
End of the Program
• If you are manufacturing a batch, the tool is far enough away from the part to allow
to the operator remove finished piece and insert new raw material?
• Did you turn off the soda?
Program Documentation
• The documentation of the machining process of the part was prepared appropriately (list of
tool, raw material, fastening device, operation sheets, listing of
program?
