Purpose:
Learn the best practices of how to use ChatGPT inside your photography, videography,
or creative business. We discuss what ChatGPT is, best practices, use cases, and
examples I love.
What is it?
ChatGPT is a AI language model. A powerful AI tool that can help your creative
business in almost every department. From coming up with photoshoot ideas to
negotiating with clients, ChatGPT is here to help.
It’s only as powerful as the prompts you give it. It’s vital to know what separates a good
prompt from a bad prompt.
Note: ChatGPT is currently free, but the free version is down a lot of the time. $20/mo
unlocks the premium version which is always available and provides faster responses. If
you make any money from your business, I recommend paying this. (As of 02/18/2023)
Best Practices
MAIN PROMPT + NICHE + CONTEXT + DETAILS
This is THE formula to follow for success. We need to give it a main prompt, provide a
niche, give it context, and then add details to fine tune it.
Example:
ChatGPT Cheatsheet 1
Good: Write me a cold email for a chocolate company. I’m a photographer selling
product photo packages. Make it funny.
Bad: Write me a cold email
In the first example we explained exactly what the main prompt is (cold email), we
provided the niche (chocolate company), we added context (who we are and what we
do), and we gave it more specific details (make it funny). People will respond to this.

The second example led to a generic email. No one will respond to this.
Example 2:
Good: Give me ideas for a product photography photoshoot. This is for a canned cold
brew coffee brand. The goal of the photoshoot is to showcase the premium flavor.
Provide 5 ideas using coffee beans as props.
Very specific. We have the exact situation at hand. We know what we want the AI to do,
what niche we’re photographing, what the goal is, and the number of outputs.
Bad: Give me photoshoot ideas for product photography.
This leads to generic responses.

Bonus tip: If you don’t get the answer you want you can click the button that says
“Regenerate response” to get a new answer.
Additionally, you can fine tune the answer. “Make it sound like Jim Carrey said it” “Make
it more serious” “give me 5 more options” etc.
Use Cases:
Photo and Video shoot ideas
Prompt: Give me ideas for a product videoshoot. This is for a nootropic supplement.
The goal of the photoshoot is to showcase how the supplement helps focus. Provide 5
ideas.
