Job Description
The DBA team is looking to add to their current talent a self-motivated, highly experienced MySQL Database Administrator. The
DBA team is responsible for tasks such as project management, development of best practices and repeatable procedures for
deploying databases, day-to-day operational activities including break/fix, capacity management, backup and recovery,
database High Availability Clusters, replication setup/management and ongoing database change reviews. The team also builds
and maintains large-scale and very high transactional MySQL databases on Linux platform. Working knowledge in Oracle
database will be added advantage.
Your role
As a consultant, you are an expert at contributing to different phases of the consulting in MySQL Database lifecycle. You will
define the problem, propose and refine the solution. You will also play an important role in the development, configuration
and deployment of the overall solution. You will guide teams on project processes, deliverables and contribute to the proposal
development, client training and internal capability-building and help detail the project scope. You will have the opportunity to
shape value-adding consulting solutions that enable our clients to meet the changing needs of the global landscape.
Required
Managing large scale MySQL databases
Solid understanding of MySQL internal architecture, demonstrated experience with MySQL database design,
implementation, performance tuning, and capacity planning
Provision MySQL instances, both in clustered and non-clustered configurations
Experience with Enterprise backup and recovery strategies
Experience with Monitoring Tools for MySQL Database
Understanding of MySQL’s underlying storage engines, such as InnoDB and MyISAM
Experience in database software management (patch and version management)
Good scripting ability and good working knowledge of Shell Scripts, Perl or Python
Oracle Database Administrator with 4 years of experience with expertise as per the responsibilities and requirements.
Manage Oracle databases through multiple product lifecycle environments, from development to mission-critical
production systems.
Good understanding of the Oracle database architecture (Single Instance, RAC and ASM), related utilities and tools on
Oracle 12c or later, Oracle Multitenant architecture.
Strong experience on backup utilities or tools like RMAN & EXPDP/IMPDP, CRSCTL, SRVCTL, NetBackup, Networker
Administration over DB Objects including Tables, Clusters, Views, Procedures etc.
Good understanding of core support processes and change management, maintain documentation standards
Good scripting skills to automate regular DBA admin tasks
Prepare documentations and specifications
Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders
Handle common database procedures, such as upgrade, backup, recovery, migration, etc
Profile server resource usage, optimize and tweak as necessary
Preferred
Decent experience with recent versions of MySQL
Hands on experience with designing and implementing database High Availability Clusters and replication strategies
Certified MySQL DBA is a plus
Proficient in writing and optimizing SQL statements
Ability to plan resource requirements from high level specifications
Familiarity with other SQL/NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, etc
Knowledge of limitations in MySQL and their workarounds in contrast to other popular relational databases
Good Client handling skill
