Tech addiction 17.3.25
Tech addiction interests me because tech and AI is the future
AI is when you teach computers to become intelligent like humans, it is a great way of storing
information. Some people take advantage of AI and become lazy, getting AI to do work for them.
Overdependence is similar to addiction, you need something and cannot live without it. You are
no longer independent, many people depend on tech for their work and study but we cannot
overdepend it.
Tech can be destructive and isolating if you miss out on nature, creating mental health problems.
Fresh air, calming trees and aesthetically beautiful flowers can really boost one’s morale.
Neglect is when a vulnerable person is not looked after properly. Parents should ensure children
enjoy their childhood and learn about adulthood and independence in a holistic way.
Concepts
• Platforms are applications such as Twitter that can be used across multiple
devices.
• Dopamine is a feel good chemical that is released into your brain if you smoke or
use an addictive drug. Research has helped us see that technology can be
addictive if overused.
• Posture can be dangerous if you are continuously online, “textneck” can be an
injury caused by overuse of mobile phones.
• Being hyperconnected can help working from home but can create very different
friendships.
