Purpose of the role
The role of the ABAP Developer in the Core SAP Delivery team is to provide a range of technical
contributions towards the delivery of changes to the Core SAP solution at Cambridge University Press &
Assessment
Key accountabilities
Solution design, including:-
• Investigating and identifying possible solutions to business requirements
• Gathering any technical requirements
• Providing technical inputs such as feasibility studies and proof of concepts
• Classifying technical complexity and providing rationale towards effort estimations
• Assist with the presentation of solution options and recommendations.
Change delivery, including:-
• Assisting with ABAP-related tasks such as debugging
• Delivering developments and defect fixes
• Writing technical specifications
• Upholding, and helping to improve, coding standards, best practices, and procedures
• Ensuring adherence to change management policies and procedures

• Strong ABAP programming skills including object-oriented concepts, ABAP Workbench, ALV
reporting, SMARTFORM/SAP Scripts, Adobe forms, module pools, data migration techniques, debugging
techniques, performance tuning

Experience:
• SAP ABAP development, gained across either project (e.g., implementation) or business-as-usual
support assignment roles
• Worked alongside functional consultants in the areas of Finance, Procurement, Sales, or Supply
Chain, and associated business processes
• Worked alongside integration consultants in the areas of EDI and IDoc interfaces
• Experience of supporting SAP change delivery processes within an Agile environment and to
geographically dispersed customers / end-users
