INSTRUCTION

This project is easy to crochet but it takes good skills in thorough and neat sewing while assembling
the pieces.
All pieces are crocheted in continuous rounds. At the beginning of crocheting is not a magic ring, but a
chain of 2 and in the 2nd ch from the hook is made 6 sc. I used this technique because plush yarn is difficult
to tighten. I used ~ 2 and 1/3 skeins of gray yarn; 1 and 2/3 skeins of cream yarn.
If you use materials mentioned above, you would result in a cat 45 cm (18 in) long (without tail = 30 cm).

Level:
Intermediate

Abbreviations:
R - round
sts – stitches
ch – chain stitch
sl st – slip stitch
sc – single crochet for US (double crochet stitch for UK)
inc – increase: 2 sc in 1 stitch
dec – decrease

NOTE#1 How to make sc decrease: insert the hook into the next stitch and thread over. Pull a loop
through so that there are now 2 loops on the hook. Insert the hook into the next stitch and thread over.
Pull a loop through so that there are now 3 loops on the hook. Thread over again and pull the loop of
thread through all 3 loops on the hook.

NOTE#2 For crocheting of circles - pull the initial thread end out
between rounds 2 and 3, it would serve as the marker and help you
to count the rounds.

3
HEAD

Gray yarn

Make chain of 2 and 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook:

Round 1: 6sc (6 sts)
R2: (inc) X 6 (12 sts)
R3: (1sc, inc) X 6 (18 sts)
R4: (2sc, inc) X 6 (24 sts)
R5: (3sc, inc) X 6 (30 sts)
R6: (4sc, inc) X 6 (36 sts)
R7: (5sc, inc) X 6 (42 sts)
R8: (6sc, inc) X 6 (48 sts)
R9: (7sc, inc) X 6 (54 sts)
R10-23 (14 rounds): sc around (54 sts)
R24: (7sc, dec) X 6 (48 sts)
R25: (6sc, dec) X 6 (42 sts)
R26: (5sc, dec) X 6 (36 sts)
R27: (4sc, dec) X 6 (30 sts)
R28: (3sc, dec) X 6 (24 sts)
R29: (2sc, dec) X 6 (18 sts)

After R29 stuff the head.

R30: (1sc, dec) X 6 (12 sts)
R31: (dec) X 6 (6 sts), cut the yarn off.
Thread a yarn tail through the remaining 6 stitches in succession, tighten and hide it.

4
BODY
Yarn gray, creme

Start with gray yarn.

Make chain of 2 and 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook:
Round 1: 6sc (6 sts)
R2: (inc) X 6 (12 sts)
R3: (1sc, inc) X 6 (18 sts)
R4: (2sc, inc) X 6 (24 sts)
R5: (3sc, inc) X 6 (30 sts)
R6: (4sc, inc) X 6 (36 sts)
R7: (5sc, inc) X 6 (42 sts)
R8: (6sc, inc) X 6 (48 sts)
R9: (7sc, inc) X 6 (54 sts)
R10: (8sc, inc) X 6 (60 sts)
R11: (9sc, inc) X 6 (66 sts)
R12: sc around (66 sts)

Now change to creme yarn using the following method here and below. This method is used to avoid
“steps” when changing yarns. After completing the round, make an additional sl st. Remove the hook from
the gray loop and attach the creme yarn to the penultimate stitch of the round. Pull the second creme loop
out of the stitch where the last sl st has already been made, and thread the hook through the remaining
gray loop. Grab the creme yarn and pull it through all three loops on the hook. Tighten the gray loop to
make it inconspicuous. Next, work the creme round as usual. In the stitch where the creme yarn was
attached, make last sc of this round and start counting the sts of the next round from the next stitch.

5
R13-16 (4 rounds): sc around (66 sts), change the yarn to gray
Make 1 extra sc before changing yarn and do so at each change thereafter so that the yarn change
line does not shift diagonally of the crocheting.
R17-20 (4 rounds): sc around (66 sts), change the yarn to creme
R21-24 (4 rounds): sc around (66 sts), change the yarn to gray
R25-28 (4 rounds): sc around (66 sts), change the yarn to creme
R29-32 (4 rounds): sc around (66 sts), change the yarn to gray
R33-36 (4 rounds): sc around (66 sts), change the yarn to creme
R37-40 (4 rounds): sc around (66 sts), change the yarn to gray
R41-43 (3 rounds): sc around (66 sts)
R44: (20sc,dec) X 3 (63 sts), change the yarn to creme
R45: sc around (63 sts)
R46: (19sc,dec) X 3 (60 sts)
R47: sc around (60 sts)
R48: (18sc,dec) X 3 (57 sts), change the yarn to gray
R49: sc around (57 sts)
R50: (17sc,dec) X 3 (54 sts)
R51: sc around (54 sts)
R52: (16sc,dec) X 3 (51 sts), change the yarn to creme
R53: sc around (51 sts)
R54: (15sc,dec) X 3 (48 sts)
R55: sc around (48 sts)
R56: (14sc,dec) X 3 (45 sts), change the yarn to gray
R57: sc around (45 sts)
R58: (13sc,dec) X 3 (42 sts)
R59: (5sc, dec) X 6 (36 sts)
R60: (4sc, dec) X 6 (30 sts)
R61: (3sc, dec) X 6 (24 sts)
R62: (2sc, dec) X 6 (18 sts)
After R62 stuff the body.
R63: (1sc, dec) X 6 (12 sts)
R64: (dec) X 6 (6 sts)
Close the remaining hole in the same manner as the head.

CHEEKS (make 2)

Creme yarn

Make chain of 2 and 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook:

Round 1: 6sc (6 sts)
R2: (inc) X 6 (12 sts)
R3: (1sc, inc) X 6 (18 sts), make sl st more and cut the yarn off, leave the tail.
Make an invisible fastening off and hide the tail.

Using long double black thread,

embroider lots of black dots - just little stitches - on the cheeks.

EARS (make 2)

Gray yarn

Make chain of 2 and 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook:

Round 1: 6sc (6 sts)
R2: (inc) X 6 (12 sts)

R4: (6sc, inc) X 2 (16 sts)
R5: (7sc, inc) X 2 (18 sts)
R6: (8sc, inc) X 2 (20 sts)
R7: (9sc, inc) X 2 (22 sts)
R8: sc around (22 sts)
Cut the yarn off, leave the tail.

Make an invisible fastening off and use the same

tail to make a couple small tight stitches at the top
of the ear to make the top flat.
Fasten and hide it.

7
FORELEGS (make 2)

R21-23 (3 rounds): sc around (21 sts), change the yarn to gray
R24-26 (3 rounds): sc around (21 sts), change the yarn to creme
R27-29 (3 rounds): sc around (21 sts), change the yarn to gray
R30-32 (3 rounds): sc around (21 sts)
Cut the yarn off, leave the tail for stitching.
Stuff the forelegs, the bottom part quite tightly, the middle part not tightly, and don't stuff the top
at all, as it will be pressed against the thick body. Carefully sew the upper edges of the forelegs, make
sure that the yarn change line is exactly on the back part. Hide the
yarn tails.

Stuff the tail, not tightly.

10
NEEDLE SCULPTING OF THE FACE

The cat’s face is made by a needle sculpting.

This is a responsible task. Make sure that the shrinks on both sides of the face are equal and symmetrical.

Insert a long (~1 meter) piece of strong gray thread into a long needle.
Mark point 1 on the chin – between 6 and 7 rounds of the head.
Mark points 2 and 3 for the eyes - between 5 and 6 rounds of the head, with 10 sts between them and -
note - there should be a line of increases between them. Insert the needle at point 1 and withdraw it at
point 2, leaving a long tail of 15 - 20 cm. After making a small stitch to the center, bring it out again at
point 1. Tighten the thread well and tie it securely with the remaining tail. Insert the needle again at point 1
and bring it out at point 3, making a small stitch to the center and bringing it out at point 1. Tighten the
thread again and tie with the remaining tail.

11
Next, insert the needle at point 1, bring it out at point 4, making a small stitch bring it out at point 1,
pull it down. Again, insert the needle at point 1, bring it out at point 5, make a small stitch, bring it out
at point 1, pull it down, - make sure the bridge of the nose is symmetrical - and repeat the same
process at points 6 and 7. Tie the thread with the remaining tail.

Cut both tails, insert them into needle

and hide them in the cat's head.

12
EMBROIDERY OF THE FACE

Embroidering the face is an even more responsible task.

Embroider the nose with 6-strands pink embroidery thread as shown in the photos - first a few
vertical stitches, then a few horizontal stitches.

Now pin the cheeks on either side of the nose. Sew on with 1-strand cream embroidery thread in
small inconspicuous stitches. I sewed them on two rounds for security.

13
To embroider the eyes, you can first put pieces of black thread
on the right places, to see how it will be better.
I embroidered the eyes with three stitches and duplicated them.
If it is difficult, you can embroider the eye with one long stitch.

Pin the ears to the cat's head as shown in the photos and sew on with the same gray yarn. Sew the
ears in a crescent shape.

14
The cat's head is embroidered with the same crème plush yarn with stripes - three on the forehead,
two on the sides of the eyes, and two on each cheek. It is easy to embroider them, you just need to
make sure they are symmetrical. Do not tighten the yarn!

15
Sew the head to the body, matching the center rounds of both, tightly but so that the head can turn
sideways. Make sure the yarn change line on the body is on the belly. Place the legs on the body. You
can't pin them with pins because of their thickness, so I pinned them with long needles. Sew on the legs
with the same gray yarn, sewing the back legs on first. Between the back legs are 40 sts on the back and
26 sts on the belly. They are adjacent to the back gray circle of the body. Back and forelegs at the same
level. There are ~ 5 strips between them.
The tail is sewn a little above the initial first round of the body, with cream yarn, in a circle (or rather
an oval). Make sure the yarn change line is at the bottom.

16
Your cozy sleeping cat is ready) Congratulations!

17
This cat is crocheted with «Candy» yarn (100% wool, 100 g /178 m) with the same 4.5 mm hook. The
length of the cat is 32 cm, the tail is 22 cm.
