CAREER GUDANCE IMPLEMENTATION PLAN

Introduction

Career guidance is a foundational aspect of holistic basic education. While traditionally associated with high school
learners, introducing career awareness as early as elementary years is a proactive step toward shaping well-rounded, future-
ready individuals. During these formative years, children are naturally curious and open to learning about the world around
them, including the various professions and roles that make up their communities. By capitalizing on this curiosity, educators
can guide learners in developing an early awareness of careers, setting the stage for informed choices later in life.

Elementary students are at the stage where their identities, values, and interests begin to form. This makes it a strategic period to help
them recognize their personal strengths, appreciate diversity in the workplace, and see the value of education in achieving future goals.
Through age-appropriate activities and engaging exposure opportunities, career guidance can inspire students to dream, plan, and
work towards becoming productive citizens. It also encourages them to connect academic learning with real-world applications,
increasing motivation and purpose in school.

Moreover, the involvement of parents, community professionals, and teachers in career guidance enriches the learning experience.
When learners hear stories of different paths and professions from people they trust and admire, they gain insights and build
aspirations. These role models offer authentic examples that help bridge classroom learning with practical life realities. A strong
support network nurtures confidence and goal-setting behavior among learners.
The goal of this action plan is not to pressure young children to make early career choices but to introduce them to the vast
possibilities of the future. Exposure to career-related activities supports decision-making skills, problem-solving, communication, and
emotional development—all critical components of lifelong success. It also emphasizes that careers are not just about jobs but about
purpose, service, and personal fulfillment.

Through this Career Guidance Action Plan, the school aims to provide structured, intentional, and inclusive experiences that
are sensitive to the developmental needs of elementary learners. By aligning the activities with the principles of the K to 12 Basic
Education Program and involving all key stakeholders, the school ensures that learners are equipped with the foundational attitudes
and knowledge necessary for continuous academic, personal, and professional growth.

Rationale

The Department of Education recognizes the importance of early career guidance as an integral part of the learner’s
development. DepEd Order No. 25, s. 2013 mandates the inclusion of career guidance across all key stages, with a particular focus on
helping learners make connections between their education and future aspirations. Although career decisions are not expected at the
elementary level, the foundational experiences provided during this stage influence learners' motivation, attitudes toward work, and
eventual career paths.

Elementary career guidance enhances the learners' self-understanding, introduces a wide range of career opportunities, and
promotes equality of access to information. It also addresses the growing need for 21st-century skills by allowing children to explore
personal goals and develop self-confidence through guided activities. By making career education a part of regular school life, we
encourage learners to become reflective, goal-oriented, and collaborative individuals.

This action plan was created to ensure that career guidance is implemented in a systematic and sustainable way across all grade
levels in the elementary school. It supports the Department’s mission of providing quality, equitable, culture-based, and complete
basic education. With the participation of school leaders, teachers, parents, and community partners, the program aims to make career
guidance relevant, engaging, and impactful for all learners.

General Objective

enhances their self-awareness and decision-making skills, and connects their academic learning to future work environments.
