SAT Math Formula Cheat Sheet
1. Problem Solving & Data Analysis
- Percent Change = (New - Original) / Original × 100
- Mean = Sum of values / Number of values
- Median = Middle value when numbers are in order
- Mode = Most frequent value
- Range = Highest - Lowest
- Probability = Favorable outcomes / Total outcomes
- Proportion: a/b = c/d => ad = bc
- Standard deviation: measure of data spread (conceptual only)
2. Algebra
- Slope (m) = (y2 - y1) / (x2 - x1)
- Slope-Intercept Form: y = mx + b
- Point-Slope Form: y - y1 = m(x - x1)
- Standard Form: Ax + By = C
- Quadratic Formula: x = (-b +/- sqrt(b^2 - 4ac)) / 2a
- Factoring: ax^2 + bx + c = (px + q)(rx + s)
- Vertex Form: y = a(x - h)^2 + k
- Exponent Rules: a^m × a^n = a^(m+n); a^m / a^n = a^(m-n); (a^m)^n = a^(mn); a^0 = 1; a^-n = 1/a^n
- Radical Rules: sqrta × sqrtb = sqrt(ab); sqrt(a/b) = sqrta / sqrtb
3. Geometry
- Area of Rectangle = l × w
- Area of Triangle = 1/2 × b × h
- Area of Circle = pir^2
- Circumference of Circle = 2pir
- Pythagorean Theorem: a^2 + b^2 = c^2
- Volume of Rectangular Prism = l × w × h
- Volume of Cylinder = pir^2h
- Sum of Interior Angles = (n - 2) × 180 deg
- Each Interior Angle (regular polygon) = [(n - 2) × 180 deg] / n
4. Trigonometry
- sin(theta) = opposite / hypotenuse
- cos(theta) = adjacent / hypotenuse
- tan(theta) = opposite / adjacent
- Pythagorean Identity: sin^2theta + cos^2theta = 1
- Special Triangles:
- - 30 deg-60 deg-90 deg: 1 : sqrt3 : 2
- - 45 deg-45 deg-90 deg: 1 : 1 : sqrt2
