The Last Day of School – A Gentle Goodbye

The sun filtered through the classroom windows like golden threads, soft and warm,
lighting up floating dust like tiny stars in slow motion. Our benches, scribbled with
memories and carved initials, stood quietly as if they knew something was ending. It was
the last day of school before summer break—and maybe the last time we’d all be together in
this room, in this way.

Outside, the school courtyard buzzed with voices—laughing, shouting, the sound of
sneakers on cement, and the occasional whistle from the PE teacher who had already given
up trying to control the chaos. But inside, the classroom felt peaceful. Our teacher smiled
gently as she returned our notebooks, saying nothing about grammar or marks. For once,
her eyes weren’t strict—they were kind, maybe even a little sad.

I looked around. My best friend sat beside me, tapping her pencil against her diary like
always. The boy I secretly admired stared out of the window, watching a group of sparrows
peck at crumbs under the tree. Sunlight made his hair glow at the edges, and for a moment,
it felt like time slowed down. I wanted to freeze that frame forever.

The bell rang—sharp, echoing. That was it. The last bell. Everyone jumped up, shouting and
hugging and running out. I stood there for a moment longer, taking it all in—the smell of
chalk, the creaky fan above, the rows of windows that had seen every season, every mood.

As I stepped out, the sky was starting to change. Clouds moved slowly, brushing against the
sun. The wind carried petals from the gulmohar trees, red and orange, twirling like confetti.
It felt like the season itself was saying goodbye.
We gathered near the old staircase, laughing, clicking photos, making promises to never
forget each other. But deep down, we all knew that some moments can’t be repeated—they
can only be remembered.

A teacher passed by, holding a pile of old report cards. She smiled at us and said, “Grow
well.” It wasn’t loud, but it stayed with me. Like something a character in an anime would
whisper before the screen fades to white.

As the school gate opened and we stepped outside, I felt the air shift. Everything looked the
same—the dusty road, the tea stall, the bicycles—but I had changed. We all had. We were
leaving behind a version of ourselves that would never return.

That day wasn’t just an end—it was a soft beginning. A silent farewell wrapped in sunshine,
wind, and memories that would live in us like scenes from a story that we’d replay again
and again, whenever the world felt too fast.

Topic: Should Mobile Phones Be Allowed in Schools?

Mobile phones have become an essential part of modern life, and their
influence has extended to every sphere, including education. A growing
debate among educators, parents, and students today revolves around
whether mobile phones should be permitted in schools. While some
advocate for their use as educational tools, others view them as sources
of distraction. In my opinion, mobile phones should not be allowed
during school hours, though a complete ban may not be necessary.

To begin with, it is undeniable that mobile phones can serve a few

constructive purposes. They can be used to access online dictionaries,
subject-related apps, and other learning resources. In emergencies,
mobile phones provide a quick means of communication between
students and parents. With advancements in technology, it is
understandable why students may wish to keep these devices with
them.

However, the disadvantages of mobile phones in schools are far more

significant. Most students, if permitted to carry phones openly, misuse
them for texting, gaming, and social media browsing, rather than for
educational purposes. This constant distraction can seriously affect
their concentration, participation, and academic performance.
Moreover, students often become disengaged from their surroundings
and social environment, preferring the virtual world over real human
interaction.

Additionally, the misuse of mobile phones in the form of cyberbullying,

cheating during examinations, and exposure to inappropriate content
cannot be overlooked. Such issues pose serious ethical and
psychological concerns for developing minds. Further, medical studies
have also pointed to the harmful effects of prolonged screen time on the
eyes, brain development, and mental well-being of adolescents.

That being said, completely banning mobile phones may not be the ideal
solution either. In today’s world, communication and digital literacy are
essential. Therefore, schools should

implement strict policies: students may carry their phones for

emergency use but should deposit them during class hours. Educational
institutions can also integrate technology responsiblport Writing
