It was a quiet Saturday afternoon. The rain tapped gently against the windows, and I was
curled up on the sofa with a book in hand. The house was unusually silent, with everyone
else out running errands. Just as I turned a page, the doorbell rang.

Confused, I stood up and walked to the door. We weren’t expecting anyone. When I
opened it, I gasped. Standing there, soaked from the rain, was my cousin Arif — who
lived abroad and hadn’t visited us in years.

“Surprise!” he said with a grin, holding out a bag of sweets we used to share as kids. For
a second, I couldn’t believe it. Then I laughed and threw my arms around him. Memories
from our childhood flooded back. We talked, laughed, and even played our old board
games like we used to.

By the time my parents returned, the living room was full of stories and joy. That rainy
day, which had started so quietly, turned into one of the most memorable afternoons of
my life. It reminded me that the best surprises come when you least expect them.

Subject: My Amazing School Trip to the Museum!

Hi Zayanah,

I hope you're doing well! I just had to tell you about our recent school trip to the National
Museum – it was such a great experience!

We visited the history and science sections, and I was amazed by the ancient artifacts,
especially a real mummy from Egypt! The guide told us how they preserved bodies
thousands of years ago—it was both creepy and fascinating. In the science section, there
were interactive displays about space, the human body, and even a dinosaur skeleton.

I learned so much, especially about our country's history during colonial times. There was
a special exhibition about traditional village life, with models of old houses and tools. It
made me appreciate how far we’ve come.

What made the trip really memorable was going with my friends, taking photos, and even
getting lost for a few minutes in the art gallery (don’t worry, we found the group again!).

I wish you had come with us. Hopefully, we can go together someday.

Take care and write back soon!

Best,
Laila
