Experience with Darwinbox’s Recruitment Process
I recently participated in Darwinbox’s recruitment process for their Hyderabad location. The process
involved multiple rounds, testing technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and cultural fit. Below is a
detailed account of my experience:

• Format: 3 coding questions and 15 multiple-choice questions (MCQs).
• Details:
1. Coding Question 1: A graph problem based on finding the minimum distance from 1
to the nearest 0 (similar to a problem on LeetCode).
2. Coding Question 2: A number dynamic programming (DP) problem.
3. Coding Question 3: Another problem based on dynamic programming (DP).
Second Online Assessment
• Duration: 1 hour
• Format: 2 coding questions and 14 multiple-choice questions (MCQs).
• Details:
1. Coding Question 1: A graph-based problem.
2. Coding Question 2: A problem to find the number occurring in an array more than
n/3 times (similar to a problem on LeetCode).
Interview Rounds
Technical Interview
This round was a mix of technical and project-related discussions. Key highlights:
• Introduction: The interviewer started by asking me to introduce myself.
• Project Discussion: There was a detailed discussion about my projects, focusing on their
implementation and challenges.
• Coding Question:
o Problem: Solve the Josephus Sword problem (available on GeeksforGeeks).
o Approach: I was asked to explain the brute-force solution and then optimize it
further.
• SQL Queries: The interviewer asked 5 SQL queries to test my knowledge of database
management.
• Tech Stack Questions: There were questions about the MERN stack and specific MongoDB
queries.
HR / Cultural Fit Round
This was a conversational round to assess my alignment with Darwinbox’s values. Key highlights:
• Questions About the Process: The interviewer asked about my experience with Darwinbox’s
recruitment process.
• Interest in the Company: I was asked why I wanted to join Darwinbox and what I knew
about the company.
• Situational Question: If another company offered a higher package, what would my decision
be?
• General Questions: My strengths, weaknesses, and general career aspirations were
discussed.
Key Takeaways
• Be Honest: It’s important to speak truthfully about your skills, as the interviewer will probe
deeply into topics.
• Confidence Matters: Even if you don’t know the answer to a question, stay composed and
confident.
• Preparation Focus: Emphasize core subjects, data structures, algorithms, and system design
for SDE roles.
• Communication Skills: Effective communication is an underrated but essential skill that can
make a significant difference.
Overall, the process was challenging but rewarding. The interviewers were kind and professional,
making it a great learning experience for me, especially as it was my first interview.
