SUMMARY
Sayid, a top student at Tier-2 engineering college, was thrilled to get selected at a large and
highly reputed company, First Tech Solutions. He had several conversations with his
seniors regarding the good working of the company. However, things did not go as planned.
The company had a policy where they assessed the learnings of the new recruits. Those who
fared better were placed on important projects whereas testing projects, were given to the less
brilliant. Sayid got a project meanwhile his heart was always inclined towards testing. He tried
switching his work several times by first reaching out to the HR manager, his Team Lead and
then the project manager but nothing helped. He even tried to reach out to his college senior,
but some complications hindered that process. Eventually Sayid’s performance deteriorated.
ISSUES
There were several communication issues in the case.
1. Company did not communicate the proper path to be taken where there is any kind of
issues during a running project.

3. HR and seniors dismissed Sayid’s interest with comments like "you'll realize it's for the
best"
4. Sayid waited six months before expressing dissatisfaction, and by then he was already
disengaged.
5. HR gave a flat refusal without exploring options or showing empathy.
6. Sayid’s emotional outburst ("You are responsible!") reflected accumulated frustration
due to ineffective communication channels.
