How-To Guide: Extend RFM User Interface using Context

Based Adaptation
Applies to

Utopia Solutions for MDG RFM

Summary
This guide helps you extend the MDG User Interface (UI) of RFM using the Context Based Adaptations
(CBA). CBA is a process to create adaptations of your application to use in context-specific cases. The
primary advantage with the Floorplan Management (FPM) is that it has the option to adapt applications
without the need for modification.

How-To Guide: Extending MDG UI to RFM UI Using CBA

Introduction
This guide helps you extending the Master Data Governance (MDG) User Interface (UI) for Retail and
Fashion Management (RFM) to display the additional data and hide certain fields or User Interface
Building Blocks (UIBBs) based on business requirements using Context Based Adaptations (CBA).

Limitation
In the current release, CBA does not support toolbar buttons.

UI Extension
To extend the Retail and Fashion Management (RFM) UI, you can use the Utopia delivered application
configuration and configure the settings with CBA.

The delivered application configuration for RFM are listed in the following table:

Component Name
Package /UGI4/MDG_ARTICLE
Web Dynpro Application USMD_OVP_GEN
Application Configurations /UGI4/_AR_OVP_MARA

Context Based Adaptations

The option to adapt applications without the need for modification is one of the main benefits offered by
Floorplan Manager (FPM). The possibilities of Web Dynpro Customizing in combination with the
Enhancement Framework already provide far more options than the classic Dynpro in this respect. With
CBA, the UI can be adapted depending on runtime parameters.

Adaptation Schema
The adaptation schema is a list of dimensions or characteristics that can be used for adaptations. In
fact, a parameter that affects an adaptable application is known as an adaptation dimension. Adaptation
dimensions are attached to the adaptation schema.

The Adaptation Schema used for an Article is /UGI4/RFM. The delivered dimensions are:

• Action
• Change Request Type
• Article Type
• Article Category
• Workflow Step

To maintain the adaptation schema and its dimensions, use the following steps.

1. Run t-code SM34 with View cluster FPM_VC_ADAPT_SCHEMA.

2. Click Display.

3. Create a new adaptation schema (probably a copy of /UGI4/RFM), if you need more dimensions,
or other dimension models to influence your governance UI.
4. To use the new schema, use the following steps:
a. Copy the original application configuration (for example /UGI4/_AR_OVP_MARA).

b. Create a new configuration (in standard /UGI4/_AR_OVP_CBA) of the component

FPM_ADAPTABLE_OVP

c. Assign your own adaption schema in this configuration

Dimensions
Dimensions with values are specified at the call (in the URL) can be used to influence the layout on
Floorplan level (for example configuration /UGI4/_AR_MARA_OVP). They must be defined as
application parameters (here WD application USMD_OVP_GEN). On this configuration level
(Floorplan), these values are evaluated only once at the start of the application.

If the initiated OVP should be adapted dynamically to values entered by the user, the configurations
need to be defined at the User Interface Building Block (UIBB) level (as adaptation of the component
configurations).

Action and mostly CR-Type are determined by URL. The parameters can be used for adding/hiding
UIBBs and adding/hiding fields in UIBBs. Since the Article Type and Workflow Step are in standard and
not in the URL, only adding/hiding fields in UIBB is possible.

Context-Based Adaptation Example

In the following example, you can hide the Sales UIBB for Article Type HAWA and Custom CR Type
ZAR01. You can also hide any specific fields on any UIBB or change any field labels.

Note: Start from the Application Configuration, the button for Adaptation is disabled otherwise.

Steps for Hiding UIBB: Sales

Use the following steps to hide UIBB: Sales:

1. Click the application configuration /UGI4/_AR_OVP_MARA.
