INTRODUCTION
The Internet is known as “interconnection
of computer networks ”. The Internet is a
massive network of networks. It connects
millions of computers together globally,
forming a network in which any computer
can communicate with any other computer
as long as they are both connected to the
Internet
WHAT IS INTERNET ?
• The internet is a global network of
interconnected computers and other
electronic devices that allows for
the transmission and exchange of
data and information across vast
distances
HISTORY
• The origins of the internet can be traced back to the 1960s with the development of
ARPANET (Advanced Research Projects Agency Network), a project founded by the
United States Department of Defense. ARPANET was the first network to use packet
switching, a method of data transmission that breaks information into small packets for
efficient routing.
• In the 1980s, the creation of the TCP/IP protocol suite standardized
communication protocols for connecting computers and networks, laying the
foundation for the modern internet.

ADVANTAGES
• Access to Information: The internet provides
instant access to vast amounts of information
on virtually any topic imaginable.
• Communication: The internet facilitates
communication on a global scale through
email, instant messaging, social media, and
video conferencing platforms.
• Education: Online learning platforms and
educational resources on the internet have
democratized education
• E-Commerce: The internet has transformed the
way we shop and conduct business
DISADVANTAGES
• Security Risks: With the increase in online
activities, the risk of cyber attacks, hacking,
identity theft, and viruses has also increased.
• Dependency: As society becomes increasingly
dependent on the Internet, infrastructure
vulnerabilities pose significant risks.
• Misinformation: The Internet can be a source of
misinformation, fake news, and propaganda,
leading to misunderstandings.
• Negative Influence on Health: Excessive use of
the Internet can lead to various health issues.
