INTRODUCTION

The Internet is known as “interconnection


of computer networks ”. The Internet is a
massive network of networks. It connects
millions of computers together globally,
forming a network in which any computer
can communicate with any other computer
as long as they are both connected to the

WHAT IS INTERNET ?

• The internet is a global network of


interconnected computers and other
electronic devices that allows for
the transmission and exchange of
data and information across vast
distances
HISTORY
• The origins of the internet can be traced back to the 1960s with the development of
ARPANET (Advanced Research Projects Agency Network), a project founded by the
United States Department of Defense. ARPANET was the first network to use packet
switching, a method of data transmission that breaks information into small packets for
efficient routing.
• In the 1980s, the creation of the TCP/IP protocol suite standardized
communication protocols for connecting computers and networks, laying the
foundation for the modern internet.
