- #3 Planetek Italia is a SME with headquarter in Bari (in Puglia region - South of Italy). It is one of the main Italian Space System and Earth Observation value added Company whose main application fields are Space Software, Planetary Exploration, Land Planning, Environment and Land, Security and Defence, Energy and renewable energy. Planetek group includes: Planetek Hellas, that is the twin of Planetek Italia, with headquarter in Athens and with the aim to approach the Greek market. Geo-K, founded in April 2006, is the first Spin Off company of the University of Roma Tor Vergata. The Mission of GEO-K is to work in the research and development and provide consultancy, services and products in the field of image processing and Remote Sensing (optical, hyperspectral and microvawes). GAP is the acronym of Geophysical Applications Processing s.r.l.. It is a Spin Off company of Politecnico of Bari whose specialised competencies are on satellite remote sensing, and particularly two areas: Earth surface millimetric movements detection through the interferometric analysis of Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) data; Water quality estimation through the analysis of passive sensor working in optical radiation.
- #4 Planetek Italia is a SME according to the European Union law. It has been established in 1994 and the 4 founders actively work into the Company. The Company employs 48 people (2013) plus consultants, trainees and projects collaborators. The annual turnover is about 5 M€ ( average value for the period of last three years 2011/2013) with an average value invested in Research and Innovation of about 15% of annual turnover.
- #5 The main technological areas are listed below: Satellite, aircraft and drones data processing to produce maps and indicators; Spatial Data Infrastructures (SDI) design and implementation for the storage and sharing of geospatial data; Implementation of solutions based on real time geo-location, achieved by positioning systems such as GPS / Galileo / GNSS systems and indoor localization; Software development both for the image and data on board processing and for the acquisition, processing, sharing and distribution of data (ground segment).
