A Brief History……………………………. The Open Source World
Open Source History The Hacker’s culture Richard Stallman In 1985, Stallman created the Free Software Foundation, a tax exempt charity, to support his work and that of his collaborators. Stallman personally created an enormous body of software: GCC (C compiler), GDB (debugger), Emacs (text editor), and a number of other tools.
The "open source" label itself came out of a strategy session held on February 3rd 1998 in Palo Alto, California Open Source Birthday! Todd Anderson, Chris Peterson, John "maddog" Hall and Larry Augustin (both of Linux International), Sam Ockman (of the Silicon Valley Linux User's Group), and Eric Raymond. Netscape's turns free browser!!! Linus Torvalds  Linux OS Phil Hughes  Linux Journal
The Open Source Culture It was build on hackers culture.
Hackers? There is a community, a shared culture, of expert programmers and networking wizards that traces its history back through decades to the first time-sharing minicomputers. The members of this culture originated the term ‘hacker’. Hackers built the Internet. Hackers made the Unix/Linux operating system what it is today. Hackers run Usenet. Hackers make the World Wide Web work.
Read and repeat these five principles; The world is full of fascinating problems waiting to be solved. 2. No problem should ever have to be solved twice. 3. Boredom and drudgery are evil. 4. Freedom is good. 5. Attitude is no substitute for competence. The Hacker Attitude
