Following Jon's mentorship, the singing competition will name its 22nd winner on Sunday, May 19.

Katy will also be preparing for the finale, which is set to be her final episode as a judge on American Idol. She recently opened up about why she decided to leave the music competition show after seven seasons. "I am always emotional on finale, but gosh when this finale comes, I better just tape the false lashes to my face," she told ET recently.

"I'm just trying to make space for other things," she said. "It's not like me ending this show means I'm going to go retire on an island, even though that would be fabulous. I'm gonna go to work."

The news of Katy's departure from the show comes amid rumors that she is preparing to release her sixth studio album soon. Meanwhile, her coworkers Lionel and Luke support her decision. "She's got a baby and she's got a family, got new music, and it's going to be amazing," her fellow judge Lionel also told ET. "I'm pulling for her. I told her, 'If you need help on the road, Luke [Bryan] and I will be right there."
