Wrapping up Tuesday
It's been a busy Tuesday that's for sure. Money saving, energy saving and some very silly coat models.
I'll be back on Wednesday with plenty more from the teams across the country. Meantime..
Deal of the Day: The Rubber Thermowarmth™ Padded Duvet Jacket costs £60, that comes with the perk of a huge discount on the M&S Beauty Advent Calendar 2025 - which you'll be able to purchase for £60 instead of its usual £330.
Energy saver: Dumping the 'demon' appliance
Emma Gill has taken Martin Lewis' advice and ditched the 'demon appliance' that is the tumble dryer for a more cost-effective solution.
According to the Money Saving Expert, tumble dryers cost up to £1 an hour to run, so Emma decided to ditch it altogether and go for the swap that he recommends - a dehumidifier.
As she writes for the Manchester Evening News:
You can spend hundreds on these machines, but I went for a reasonably priced HOMCOM brand, which cost me £120 last year but is now reduced to £99.99 on the Debenhams website. It's so simple to use, you basically plug it in, turn it on and press a button to switch between dehumidification mode and dry clothing mode.
With this dehumidifier in the same room as my airer, I found the winning combination. With the machine on for just a couple of hours, it draws so much moisture from the towels - about two inches deep in the draining tank - that large parts of them are dry in that time.
The 'cosy and comfy' duvet jacket that brings the M&S Beauty Advent Calendar down in price
A Marks and Spencer duvet jacket is earning rave reviews at the brand.
The Rubber Thermowarmth™ Padded Duvet Jacket costs £60, and it comes with a perk; you can get The Beauty Advent Calendar 2025 for £60 instead of its usual £330 when you buy it alongside the jacket.
More detail on the advent calendar is here.
The jacket is designed in a regular fit and has a hooded funnel neck. It's coated in the brand's Stormwear finish, which protects the wearer from light rain. There's also Thermowarmth padding to keep you warm.
You could also try the Seamless Down Short Jacket, which is £109.90 at Uniqlo. The jacket is windproof and water-repellent, and it has fleece-lined pockets.
On the cheaper side, there's the French Connection Womens Row Long Puffer Coat Chocolate for £39.99 at MandM. It comes in four different colours and features a slightly longer cut.
Sale: Virgin Media launch Autumn sale
Virgin Media has launched an autumn sale by unveiling a Netflix and ultra-fast broadband bundle that costs £1 per day.
The telecoms giant is now throwing in Netflix for free with selected fibre broadband packages that deliver ultra-fast speeds of 1,130Mbps.
Virgin has cut the price of its fastest broadband plans to their 'lowest price' ever, with customers now able to secure 1,130Mbps speeds for £29.99 – equal to roughly £1 per day.
More details here.
Virgin has also reduced the price of its cheaper plans, with prices now starting at £23.99 for 132Mbps.
How the kids wear them
I was made aware of some amusing M&S store photos last night, particularly this one described by one Bluesky user as: "This is actually exactly how my kid wears his coat. Well played, M&S."
The Padded Hooded Colour Block Coat (6-16 Yrs) is available on the brands website for £38 and as it is over £35, counts toward the sought after M&S Beauty Calendar discount offer (more detail on what that is here).
According to M&S on the coat itself: "Keep them cosy on chilly days in this statement colour block coat. It's designed in an easy regular fit, with a secure zip fastening. A cosy hood offers extra protection, while ribbed cuffs lock in warmth. This warm padded design is complete with practical pockets and a rubberised patch on the sleeve."
Indulgence: OK! Beauty Box launches four festive crackers
I mentioned in the intro we'd be looking at a payday treat or two. What better way to start than a little indulgence.
Bethan Shufflebotham writes: "Christmas crackers have traditionally been filled with gimmicks, inexpensive toys and cheesy jokes, but recent years have seen a rise in more exciting beauty offerings - because if you can’t indulge at Christmas, when can you? New for 2025, OK! Beauty Box has launched not one, but four festive crackers for every beauty fan.
"Designed for makeup lovers, skincare obsessives and self-care enthusiasts, each of the four themed crackers is filled with premium products, delivering huge savings. And for a limited time, shoppers can get them cheaper."
Find out more - including what's inside each cracker - here.
More Halloween options: Cloaks to Scoob
While Eleanor and Eve were going through the BoohooMAN options, they flagged a couple of classics from elsewhere.
Amazon offers the Rubies Official Scooby Doo Adult Costume which includes a jumpsuit with a tail and headpiece, and is currently discounted to £27 for small to medium sizes, or £27.23 for large to extra-large.
The Range has the Halloween Skeleton Inflatable Costume in Black on offer. Originally priced at £25.99, it's now available for just £23.46. This one-size-fits-all costume is said to 'accommodate various body types', making it perfect for parties and easy to deflate and store afterwards.
If you were going for that Vampire/Traitors look, theres a great looking Halloween Vampire Cloak Cape for £9.99 on Amazon or a Spellbound Witch Purple/Black Halloween Fancy Dress Costume for £19.98.
Halloween ideas: BoohooMAN drops spooky party options
Online retailer BoohooMAN has dropped a range of Halloween themed costumes and the dynamic duo that is Eleanor Fleming and Eve Rowlands have picked out a few choice items.
In terms of costumes then, the Black Halloween Skeleton Onesie is available for £21, down from £30, and comes in sizes S to XL.
The I Love Fancy Dress Highway Man Costume is a good option retailing at £21.99.
I think there will also be more than a few people checking out the Squid Guard Triangle Costume, priced at £48.99. available in red and in sizes S to XXL.
Deal: iPad mini's down 62%
A refurbished bit of tech is a great way to stay up to date at a fraction of the price, and deal site Wowcher is always a great place to go looking for a bargain.
Top of the stats I get to look at every morning, is a huge Wowcher deal that saves you a massive 62% on the iPad mini.
Origially reduced to to £129.99, the tech product has been knocked to £49.
Emily Sleight writes:
Despite being refurbished, it's been marked as 'good' by Wowcher with signs of wear-and-tear but is 'completely intact'. The deal is available for six days only, with thousands of shoppers already racing to nab the saving before it's gone (details accurate at the time of writing).
The Apple iPad Mini 1st Gen 16GB WiFi Black Tablet was originally priced at £129.99 on Wowcher, with a 7.9-inch display. It's powered by an Apple A5 processor to deliver 'smooth-multi-tasking'.

Big saving: The alarm clock that helps beat the dark mornings
"The sunrise light is a warm, soft light and makes waking up on dark winter mornings a more pleasurable experience.," wrote one reviewer about the Lumie Sunrise Alarm Clock.
The very good news, sleep fans, is that Amazon has the clock listed with 36% off it's normal price of £49.99.
Kerri-Ann Roper in the Mirror writes: "With many clever features, the Lumie alarm clock can be set to simulate the sun rising, starting 30 minutes before the alarm sounds to waken the user naturally. This can also be set to mimic the sun setting at bedtime, with the light taking 30 minutes to gradually dim to darkness."
There's some science behind it as well. Lumie is a British company founded in Cambridge in 1991. The company has spent more than 30 years researching how to help people reconnect with their natural rhythms for better sleep, mood and energy levels. The company says they invented the first wake-up light in 1992.
By simulating a sunrise, the alarm clock offers a more natural way to wake up, which can help to combat SAD and winter blues as well as improve sleep, the brand says.
It's certainly worth a try at 36% off!
Good morning!
