BBA Internship Report

Internship
The internship carries a weight equivalent to 3 to 6 credit hours according the Course Structure
of the respective program. Students must secure a minimum grade of ‘c’ in the internship.
The grade requirement shall be on the average of the components of the project work i.e.
organizational evaluation and presentation and internship report.

Formatting Guidelines

Title: Title should be concise, avoid verbose and within 15 words


Length of the Report: Approximately 30-40 pages
Paper Size: A4-size white bond
Text alignment: Justified
Position of title page and chapter heading: Centered with sentence case capital font
Line Spacing:
1. 1.5 line space in all text lines (throughout the report)
2. Single spacing (only in the table of contents, charts, graphs, tables, quotations and
references)
Margin: Left margin be 1.5 inches and remaining top, bottom, and right margin should be 1
inches.
Type face and side: Typing should be done only one side (i.e. front side) of the paper.
Font and font size: Times New Roman; 14-point font size for title, and 12-point font size
(throughout the report).
Color of the Text: Black (throughout the paper)
Page Number: Page number must be placed at the bottom center of the page
1. Title Page: No page number should appear in the title page.
2. Prefatory Part: Roman Number (Start with ii, iii, iv ….) should be given
3. Remaining Part: Arabic numbers (1,2,3,4 ……) the Arabic numbers must cover the main
body and entire supplementary part.
Figures and Tables: Should be inserted at the appropriate place in the text.

CHAPTER I: INTRODUCTION

1.1. Background of the Internship


In the background of the study intern need to write the about the internship its importance to
the student, the scope of the internship.
1.2 Objectives of the Internship
The main motive of the internship needs to be presented in this section. Intern need to write
the what kind of objective they want to achieve through the internship.
1.3 Rationale of the Internship
In the rationale of the internship means the reason and justification for participating in an
internship. For example intern could mention the reason such as skill development, industry
exposure, networking opportunity, career exposure, personal growth etc.
1.4 Methodology
In the methodology part, intern need to describe the approach that they have used to select the
organization, the department they have chosen.
1.4.1 Organization selection
In this section write the detail about how you select the organization for internship.
1.4.2 Placement
In this section, write the detail about where is your placement as an intern. Write detail
about which department you work. Also, prepare major (one or two) work flow charts to
show how you work on that organization. For your knowledge, a workflow diagram is a
visual layout of a process, project or job in the form of a flow chart. The chart describes a
process with a fixed sequence of working steps and illustrate complex processes step by
step in a comprehensible shape.
1.4.3 Duration
In this section, write the detail about the duration of your internship. Please write the exact
date and divide it into eight weeks work. A chart or diagram is more meaningful to show it
clearly to the reader.
1.5 Limitation of the Study
In the limitation of the study, interns need to describe the limitation to access of the data, the
limitation to work in different departments, time constraint limitation etc.

CHAPTER II: ORGANIZATIONAL PROFILE

2.1. History of Your Industry


In this section, write couple of paragraphs about nature of your industry. For example, if you
are doing internship at Bank, then write the history of banking. That may cover how banking
system starts, what are its development in the global context and in Nepalese context. Similarly,
if you are doing intern in school sector, then write how schooling developed in the world
including Nepal and at the moment which position it lies in. If you are doing internship in any
other organizations, please write like the mentioned examples to develop your report. Make
proper citations for the claim. Please follow APA 7 Styles of citation as it is prescribed by
university guidelines.
2.2. History of Your Organization
In this section, write the detail introduction of your organization. While writing, please don’t
simply copy and paste the statements you received from the organization you are doing intern,
or from the webpage of the organization, rather you should write it as an intern. You can change
the tone of writing to make a proper paragraph. If you are confused in your part, please visit
your seniors report and follow their styles. Here too, make proper citation using APA 7 Styles.
2.3. Organization’s vision, mission, goal, objectives, motto etc.
In this section, write briefly the organizations mission, vision, objectives and other relevant
information as available. Here too, please don’t simply copy and paste the statements you
received from the organization, rather you should write it as an intern.
2.4. Major Market and Customers
In this section write the major markets and customers that the organization deals with. Provide
detail explanation as possible so that readers can get benefited from your report. Remember
that you can make subheadings for the markets and customers if needed. While writing, please
write it as an intern. Simply copy and paste is not allowed. In fact, please write each and every
section as an intern, because copy and paste are not allowed in academic writing. Please follow
the rule for all the remaining sections.
2.5. Product and Services (Offered and Schemes)
In this section write the major markets and customers that the organization deals with. Provide
detail explanation either in paragraph or in sub-headings as per your convenient. Organizations
may have several offers and schemes, please mentioned all that in your report. Here too, please
write it as an intern.
2.6. Organizational Design and Structure (Organogram)
In this section, write short description about organization’s structure and show the structure
using organogram. For your information, an organogram is a graphical representation of an
organization’s structure, which is used to show hierarchical relationships between managers
and the people who report to them, as well as departments. While preparing organogram, it is
better to consult with your Industry Guide and other staffs because the chart is sensible issue.
Please write all section as an intern.

2.7. Organizational Performance
This section is crucial in internship report as it shows the capital structure of the company,
financial performance of the company such as return on assets (ROA), return on equity (ROE),
earning per share (EPS) and other organizational annual activities. Thus, prepare this section
carefully. If data available students can compare last 5 years performance and explain whether
the organization is in right track of there are some challenges industry are suffering from. This
section helps students to analyze their data. Many cases, Intern students are not provided with
this data as the data is sensitive for the company’s policy. In such context, leave this section.
But, it is mandatory to take supervisors approval in order to leave this section. A valid reason
is required. Student should bring letter from the organization mentioning that they are unable
to provide such data due to several reason.

CHAPTER III: JOB PROFILE AND ACTIVITIES PERFORMED

3.1. Activities Performed


In this section, write what are the activities you have performed as an intern. It is better if you
show a weekly diagram highlighting which week you work on what department, and what is
your major work. You can make your diagram more attractive from your idea and visioning.
Please write as an intern. Please develop the section with the help of weekly internship status
report prepare during internship period. It must be matched what you write in weekly report
and in a final report.
3.2. Problem Solved
In this section write what are the problem you have solved as an intern. Also, mentioned how
you solved those problems. As mentioned earlier, develop this section with the help of weekly
internship status report prepare during internship period. It must be matched what you write in
weekly report and in a final report.
3.3. Intern’s Key Observation
Intern need to describe the positive and negative observation while during internship period.
3.3.1 Positive Observation
In this section write what you observed positive things in the organization. You can write
it either in paragraph or in bullet form. Please develop the section with the help of weekly
internship status report prepare during internship period. It must be matched what you write
in weekly report and in a final report.
3.3.2 Negative Observation
In this section write what you observed shortcomings in the organization, as per your
opinion. You can write it either in paragraph or in bullet form. Here too, please develop the
section with the help of weekly internship status report prepare during internship period. It
must be matched what you write in weekly report and in a final report.
3.4. SWOT/SWOC Analysis
In this section intern need to describe the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of
the organization where you have done internship. The strength of the organization can be
(skilled manpower, large number of customer flow, high growth rate,, reputation of good
quality providers, creativity & innovation, latest technology, Management information
system), the weakness of the organization can be ( Centralized system issues, audit issues,
salary issues, internet banking, credit card facilities, bank insurance, parking issues, Low
Production capacity, No opportunity for Training and Development),the opportunity of the
study is the external factors that are helpful in achieving the objectives of the organization (
new technologies, new regulation, New Emerging Markets, Bright Local Market, New Cyber
laws and Policies, contract with other parties), the thread of the study is external factors which
could damage the business performance of the organization(e.g. Fast growing competition,
Government Policies, epidemic & pandemic, lack of adequate & appropriate manpower in
certain Zones, , Cyber threats, foreign exchange fluctuation, strikes & hostility issues, rising
expectation in particular technological domain, retaining loyal customers, lack of R&D, etc.

CHAPTER IV: LESSON LEARNT AND FEEDBACK

4.1. Key Skill and Attitudes Learnt


In this section write what key skills you have learnt. List out the skills and elaborate how your
such skills has improvised because of intern. Also write what change you have faced before
and after internship work. Here too, please develop the section with the help of weekly
internship status report prepare during internship period. It must be matched what you write in
weekly report and in a final report.
4.2. Feedback to the Organization/College/University
4.2.1 Feedback to the Organization
In this section, provide only two to three genuine feedback for the organization, which can be
possible to implement and with such feedback organization can improve its relations with their
client and staffs. Please don’t give feedback regarding organization’s policy, rather limit your
feedback to work implementation and some corrections needed to improve organizational
culture and motivation of the staffs and their client.
4.2.2. Feedback to the College/ University
In this section, provide only two to three genuine feedbacks to the college. Here too please
provide real and genuine feedback so that college can implement it to the next batch.
Remember, you face all the situation so that you are providing feedback, don’t expect it for
your case. It is obvious for the development of the college and the system of college
regarding internship work.
In this section, provide only two to three genuine feedbacks to the university. You can escape
this section if it is not necessary.
