·\":· Jhe object of strj-ctur~I analysis Is the determination of internal fo;c'e~·'a~~ .deformations ~t
.- :~IJ points. The solution is obtained through certain well defined stages. It can be shown that ·
. ·ttte methods which we have studied so far are various of tw.o basic approaches. -The two
/ approaches are classltiedas .. . .
}bepending upon the manner in which the equilibrium equations compatibility conditions and
. .stress-strain relations are fulfilled, the two parallel (or reciprocal) approaches can be.
!>,-developed. · ' · · · ·
.;:~:-
With ·u,e advent of computers, the needto develop the newer methods arose. This resulted
into use of matrix algebra (which leads lo short hand nctations) for solution of indeterminate
structures. The so-called. matrix. methods are nothing but reformulation of existing methods
and principles, at the same time introducing .generalisation. ·

Flexibility Mehtod : '
'·: l !
This mehtod is used for analysis of indeterminate structures. The analysis of indeterminate
structi.Jr.e, requi~es additional cond1t10ns such as .comp~tibillty conditions or conditions of
consistent deformation.
