I. Research Title

PHONE ADDICTION: EFFECTS TO STUDENTS’ ATTITUDE,


BEHAVIOR, AND SOCIAL INTERACTION IN GUINAYANGAN
NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL

II. Purpose/s

The role of this research is to know the changes that are brought by smartphones
to the attitude, behavior, and social interaction of the youth to help us determine the
power of these technology to influence our country’s only hope. Another motive of this
research is to find out the positive and negative impacts on the youths especially students
to their learning and overall academic performance as well as their daily routines.
Moreover, this study will analyze the psychological and behavioral dependence of the
youths on smartphones related to other forms of digital media overuse such as social
media addiction.

III. Statement of the Problem

The main objective of this study is to determine the changes brought by


smartphones to the new generation of youth and how it affects the academic
performances of the students. To be specific, this research proposal seeks to answer the
following questions:

1. What are the positive and negative changes brought by smartphones to the attitude
and behavior of the Youth?
2. What are the reasons why youths become addicted to smartphone?
3. What are the symptoms of smartphone addiction?
4. How do we can stop the spread of smartphone addiction?

IV. Background of the Study

The youths of today’s generation use smartphone/cellphone as part of their life, to


communicate with others, and help them to their daily lives especially in academic
performances. Moreover, smartphone/cellphone addiction has been an issue globally
resulting them to stay at home frequently that affect their attitude and behavior. In line to
this feedback smartphones make youths more prone to anxiety and depression. To be
specific we want to find a way to prevent the spread of smartphone addiction.
V. Research Impact

This proposal will definitely help the person concerned. The following are the
impacts of this research stated below.

 The youths of this generation. They will receive assistance in identifying the
advantages and disadvantages of cellphones in their daily lives. After that, they
will be informed of the actions they will do and the restrictions placed on the use
of smartphones.
 Government. They will be able to come up with ideas for remedies to youth
smartphone addictions. They will also be aware of how to use mobile phones to
direct young people toward a brighter future.
