Control and Instrumentation

The process control functions and the logic control will be realized in a Distributed Control Sys-
tem (DCS) and/or in a Programmable Logic Control system (PLC). The procurement and/or the
extension of the DCS/PLC systems are not part of the VOITH PAPER supply.

However, customer will provide the existing building / plant lay-out drawing in AutoCad for-
mat for the preparation of the layout as mentioned above.

For equipment / system, that are part of the process line BUT are not part of the Voith Pa-
per‘s scope of supply, YET included in the engineering scope, Voith Paper, India requires
the following information and documents to integrate in Basic Process engineering docu-

- Space requirements for services
Customer will be responsible for correctness and completeness of the provided information
/document.
On receipt of incomplete or/and faulty documents or of late provision of information and doc-
umentation for deliveries from third-party companies, Voith reserves the right to change the
engineering deadlines and to claim any extra costs incurred.

stallation, commissioning and start-up in the defined scope of this specification.

Commissioning

Function Tests
During the function tests all field equipment is tested. Motors at PM and in process area
are started up, movements are adjusted, interlocks and sequences are checked and ma-
chine drives are started. Finally machine clothing will be installed and drive interlocks and
overall functions will be tested, e.g. e-stop and overall knock-off functions.
At the end of the function test phase the machine is ready for start-up.
Preconditions:

o All parts installed and aligned
o Grounding system completed
o Control rooms and facilities completed

Milestone: Stock on wire (SOW)


Milestone when headbox and wire section are running with fiber suspension for the first

14 I/O Check
HSE – Health, Safety and Environment
Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental Protection (HSE) and all other safety topics are
important for Voith.
On purchasers premises Voith personnel will be exposed to dangers which are unknown. There-
fore the purchaser must provide the required occupational safety and protection activities in all
working and access areas on its premises. This responsibility does remain with the Purchaser in
case it has subcontracted works and/or parts thereof to a third party.
Purchaser obligations:
o Instruction of Voith personnel about the specific dangers in the work environment
o Ensure the safety of Voith personnel while on-site
o Compliance with the relevant statutory and administrative regulations for occupational
health and safety as well as the minimum standards outlined in the attached appendix.

If the worksite deems to be unsafe Voith reserves the right to suspend all work activities up until
the deficiencies have been corrected. All cost occurring have to be borne by the purchaser.

Training

Objective
The aim of Voith training is to support the Purchaser to qualify his personnel to operate and to
maintain the equipment of the Voith delivery.The Purchaser´s personnel will be informed about
potential risks and dangers of typical operation and service circumstances.
The training consists of theoretical classroom training as well as practical training on-site. During
the practical training Purchaser´s personnel will join commissioning and start-up activities under
the supervision of Voith specialists.

fore beginning of the assignment.

Terms and conditions for site services

The given days are only “working-days on-site”. Related travelling times, costs for accommoda-
tion and board as well as preparation times and related costs are considered as overheads and
are included in the service price. VAT is excluded and will be added to each invoice according
the local tax regulations.

The coordination of the Voith supervisors is done by the Voith Site Manager in close cooperation
with Purchaser’s site management.
If extra working time is needed the maximum daily work is limited to 12 hours per person and
only applicable in special cases. Extra working time (exceeding the table above) is always based
on Purchaser’s specific order. The statutory working hours of Voith personnel are based on the
national labour law of the installation site. The Purchaser shall provide Voith with information
concerning local laws and regulations.

For accruing waiting times for Voith personnel caused by unmet prerequisites or any other de-
lays, Voith reserves the right to charge resulting additional costs to Purchaser.
Voith personnel is entitled for home trips on a regular basis. The standard for home trips de-
pends on country of site execution and Voith employee´s country of employment. Site responsi-
bilities will continue without interruption.

and services going beyond these, which are required for operation but are not specified, do
not form part of our scope of supply.
