ASSIGNMENT
WEBSITE
A website is a collection of linked pages on the internet. It's like
a digital book where each page can have text, pictures, videos,
and links to other pages. People use websites to share
information, sell products, or connect with others. You can visit
a website by typing its address, called a URL, into a web
browser.
WEBPAGES
A webpage is a single page on the internet. It's like one page in
a book. A webpage can have text, pictures, videos, and links to
other pages. You can look at a webpage by going to its address,
called a URL, in a web browser. Websites are made up of many
webpages linked together.
WEB BROWSER
A web browser is a program you use to look at websites on the
internet. It's like a tool that helps you read digital books and
visit different pages. Some common web browsers are Google
Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Microsoft Edge. You open a web
browser, type in a website's address, and it shows you the
webpage.
WEB SERVER
A web server is a computer that stores websites and sends them
to your web browser when you ask for them. It's like a library
that keeps all the books (websites) and gives them to you when
you want to read one. When you type a website's address into
your browser, the browser talks to the web server to get the
information and show it to you.
WEB APPLICATION
A web application is a special type of website that you can
interact with, like an app on your phone but used in a web
browser. Examples include online games, email services, and
social media sites. You can use web applications to do things
like shop, communicate, or create documents.
HTTP
HTTP, which stands for Hypertext Transfer Protocol, is the way
computers talk to each other to share webpages on the internet.
When you click a link or type a website address, HTTP helps
your web browser and the web server communicate to show
you the webpage. It's like a set of rules for exchanging
information. HTTPS is a secure version that keeps your data
safe.
WWW
WWW stands for World Wide Web. It's a huge collection of
linked documents and other resources, like a giant digital
library, that you can access through the internet. When you visit
websites, you're using the World Wide Web. It's often just
called "the web."
.COM
".com" is a part of a website address, called a domain extension,
that usually stands for "commercial." It's one of the most
common endings for website addresses and is often used by
businesses. For example, in "www.example.com," the ".com"
helps identify the website's purpose and type.
COMPUTER
A computer is a machine that can store, process, and retrieve
data. It can perform various tasks according to instructions
given to it, usually by a user or through pre-programmed
software. Computers come in different forms, including
desktops, laptops, tablets, and smartphones, and they are used
for activities like work, communication, entertainment, and
learning.
THE HISTORY OF COMPUTERS
The history of computers is fascinating! It dates back to ancient
times when people used tools like the abacus for calculations.
However, the modern computer era began in the mid-20th
century with the invention of electronic computers.
The first electronic digital computer, called the ENIAC
(Electronic Numerical Integrator and Computer), was
completed in 1945. It was massive, filling an entire room, and
was used primarily for military calculations during World War
II.
In the following decades, computers evolved rapidly, becoming
smaller, faster, and more powerful. The invention of the
transistor in the 1950s paved the way for smaller and more
efficient computers.
The 1970s saw the development of the microprocessor, which
led to the creation of personal computers (PCs). Companies like
Apple and IBM introduced affordable computers for personal
use, revolutionizing the way people work and communicate.
The 1980s and 1990s witnessed the rise of graphical user
interfaces (GUIs) and the internet, further expanding the
capabilities and reach of computers. The World Wide Web,
created by Tim Berners-Lee in 1989, enabled easy access to
information and communication across the globe.
Since then, computers have continued to advance rapidly, with
innovations like smartphones, tablets, cloud computing, and
artificial intelligence transforming nearly every aspect of
modern life. Today, computers are essential tools in fields
ranging from business and science to education and
entertainment, shaping the way we live, work, and interact with
the world.
