information that can be
displayed on a computer screen
or printed out.

Image and Digital image which
is the binary representation of
any type of visual information.

up of dots called pixels.
✓ A pixel is the smallest part of the
screen that can be controlled by
the computer or other device.
✓ The total number of pixels on a
screen is called its resolution.

drawing, chart, or photo.

• Image is composed of pixels, while
graphics are composed of paths.
• An image is a 2-dimensional plane
of pixels where every pixel have a
domain of colors. A Graphics is a
graphical object-oriented
framework, which can be 1-dim
(vector), 2-dim (plane), 3-dim
(object), 4-dim (animation).

treatment, or stored digitally.

pigment, color or other medium to a
solid surface (called the "matrix" or
"support").
✓ the medium is commonly applied to
the base with a brush, but other
implements, such as knives, sponges,
and airbrushes, can be used. The final
work is also called a painting.
