“Elon Musk has completed his purchase of Twitter Inc.
for about $44 billion, putting the world’s richest
man in charge of the struggling social network after six months of public and legal wrangling over the
deal.
Shareholders will be paid $54.20 per share, and Twitter will now operate as a private company.”

The network which was made for people to express their opinion in 2005 became an
important instrument in the hands of public figures such as artists, socialites, politicians and etc.
One simple tweet can cause unimaginable, for example the transparent hint from Trump to storm the
Capitol was made on Twitter.
Musk also promised to make it an ecosystem such as Chinese WeChat. So, it would be a multifunctional
app. Unleashing the free speech and fighting the misinformation and fakes are on top of Musk’s
prerogatives.
In his April TED talk he said that people must have an opportunity to have a freedom of speech within
the law boundaries.
Musk also said that permanent banning of people such as banning Donald Trump from twitter can
polarize speech.
“Employees and social media experts have expressed concern that Musk could undo Twitter’s
safeguards.” – The Washington Post
“If the citizens want something banned, then pass a law to do so, otherwise it should be allowed,” he
tweeted in May.
Musk has also floated the idea of subscription services at Twitter, including making commercial and
government accounts pay for features. Lately everyone can obtain a blue check for just 8$ a month. But
now it doesn’t mean being an official. Blue check means that person pays 8$ for Twitter Blue.
Government officials, public figures and other celebrities are marked differently.
“Musk quickly fired several top executives, including CEO Parag Agrawal, chief financial officer Ned
Segal, and Vijaya Gadde, head of legal policy, trust, and safety, according to people familiar with the
matter.”
Musk previously told prospective partners that he would cut nearly 75 percent of Twitter’s 7,500-person
workforce. Layoffs at that scale could have immediate impacts on the site’s users and features. But
during a visit to Twitter’s San Francisco headquarters this week, Musk told employees he didn’t plan to
lay off three-quarters of the staff. So, we can see how CONTROVERSIAL Musk’s statements are.
conservative media pundits claimed Musk’s takeover as a victory for their cause, particularly just weeks
ahead of the U.S. midterm elections. Ben Shapiro, founder of The Daily Wire, retweeted Musk with a
meme of popping champagne, and tweeted, “We can only hope that other social media bosses (cc:
Mark Zuckerberg) follow Musk’s lead.”
