Introduction
There are no ifs, ands or buts about it: the lives we lead today
would be impossible without technology. A quick count of all
the screens around you is enough to see that technology is
everywhere. It has changed the way we work, play and even
raise our children. Thanks to the ease of emails, video
conferencing, tablets, laptop computers and other relatively
recent innovations today’s offices would be unrecognizable to
workers of the past. Even with all these changes, peak-
technology still seems forever away. What a wonder it would be
if we were just getting started. But living and sharing life online
with the ability to communicate instantly across miles has
fostered a wave of people with tech-dependent lifestyles
causing changes in both the professional and private spheres.
Background
Alright, here’s a teenage-friendly summary:

So, "technology" originally came from Greek words for "art" and
"speech" and was all about talking about arts, especially
practical ones. When it popped up in English in the 1600s, it
focused on the applied arts (think crafts and skills). Over time,
it shifted to mean the tools, methods, and ideas we use to
change our world. By the 20th century, it was all about how
people use tech to adapt and control their surroundings, but it’s
tough to say where science stops and tech starts.

To explain technology’s history, this article goes step-by-step

through different time periods. It covers what life was like, what
materials and power sources were big, and how tech shaped
things like food, factories, buildings, travel, communication, the
military, and medicine. Each era has its own unique details, like
which materials were new or which tools were developing. It
wraps up with the social impact of all this tech evolution.

Justification
Why we need technology? Technology makes people more
productive or less productive? but specially what are the main
affections of technology in young adults and teenagers?
Objectives
Our goal in this investigation is analyze the effects of
technology on daily life by their impact on communication,
work productivity, and social interaction we will analyze what
people think about technolgy
Answering the questions that we mwntioned before
Hypothesis
If we use technology we will not have any improvement in our
productivity and we will do things with less efficacy
The correct use of technological devices and certain tools like
Ai improve our productivity and efficacy when we do
homeworks.
The integration of technology in our daily life has a big impact
on different aspects of human activity like communication or
access to new and easy information. Technology allows us to
have global connectivity, but it also has negative
consequences, such as decrease in social interaction and
stress. So, we will explore both sides of technology in our daily
life.

Methods
For our research, we employed a combination of both
qualitative and quantitative methods to ensure a well-rounded
approach. In addition to these, we implemented a specialized
method for data collection. This involved conducting interviews,
gathering personal opinions, and utilizing secondary data from
several sources on the Internet. We also integrated AI tools like
chat gpt, to help us analyze and organize the vast amount of
information we gathered.
Our interviews became the central focus of the research, as we
aimed to capture diverse perspectives and opinions from
individuals within our community. Since the topic directly
impacted the people we engaged with, their insights were
crucial for a deeper understanding. We felt that by prioritizing
these interviews, we could gain a more authentic and
meaningful perspective on the issues at hand.

Results
First of all we made some interviews and we found out that
people think that technology can improve our efficacy if we
know how to use or if we use it with responsability but some
people also thinks that technology could be dangerous and in
many situations can be a big distractor for people, and this
doesn't happens by accident this has an very fascinating
explanation and we're going to explain it later, continuing with
the interviews we and the interviewed persons note that the
big majority ( almost everyone ) in some part of the day are
using some electronic device like cellphones or laptops, even
teachers uses laptops and televisions for give us the classes.
When we touch more difficult topics we found more information
like every person who we interviewed have used or knows
about AI like Chat Gpt or Gemini almost we found teachers that
uses this AI or Grammar which is an AI for making
presentations.

When we get in Google we found out some advantages and

disadvantages of technology in our lives which are:

Improved Communication: The evolution from Alexander

Graham Bell's phone to today's smartphones has revolutionized
communication. Traditional calls are giving way to messaging,
social media, and video calls like Zoom, especially post-
pandemic, with more people working from home and relying on
video conferencing.

AI Changing Work: Tools like ChatGPT have transformed tasks,

from writing resumes to generating spreadsheets, with 65% of
businesses using AI tools. While powerful, AI isn’t perfect and
has sparked debates about its role in education and the
workplace.

Decreased Privacy: The rise in online activity has increased

privacy risks, but tools like password managers, VPNs, and
antivirus software help users protect their data in this digital
era.

Accessible Shopping: Online shopping offers convenience, while

physical stores benefit from tech like POS systems. The internet
has made it easier for anyone to start a business and reach
global customers with website builders.

Better Information Access: Smartphones and search engines

have made vast amounts of information accessible at our
fingertips, rendering libraries and physical maps nearly
obsolete.

Virtual Social Lives: Social media platforms, and now the

Metaverse, have changed how we connect and communicate,
although they can also negatively impact mental health.

Remote Working: The pandemic accelerated remote work, with

flexible arrangements becoming the norm. Technology enables
this shift, allowing companies to support remote teams
effectively.(Jack T.,2024)
Disadvantages
Everyday Distractions in a Tech-Driven World:

Higher Distractions: The digital age brings a constant flow of

distractions—notifications, emails, and apps—disrupting focus
and pulling us away from productive tasks.
Loss of Productivity: This distraction-heavy environment
reduces our ability to concentrate on meaningful work and
blurs the boundary between work and personal life, keeping us
in a state of alert.
Privacy and Data Breaches:

Loss of Privacy: Our digital footprint grows with every online

interaction, creating a data trail that can be exploited by
businesses or, worse, lead to a privacy invasion.
Data Breaches: The value of personal data makes it vulnerable
to breaches, leading to identity theft, financial loss, and
distress. Tools like VPNs help secure data in transit.
Inability to Switch Off from Work:

Lack of Work-Life Balance: Technology keeps us constantly

connected to work, challenging traditional work-life boundaries
and often merging them into "work-life integration."
Increased Burnout: The inability to disconnect contributes to
burnout, as people find it hard to recharge and escape from
work pressures.(Cherie Foo, 2024)
In this graphic we could apreciate that the use of smartphones
only in latinamerica has an increment of more than 35% in a
period of 7 years which is a very few times but technology
doesn't means only the devices like laptops no, it also influence
in vaccines and medical treatments of cancer or influence. We
think that a perfect example of this is the covid-19 pandemic
because people get incommunicate and the only way that we
could communicate was by a call or chatting plataforms like
whatsapp or Instagram in this pandemic people depend a lot of
the technology for keeping us informed and work in our houses
almost technology help scientists for making a vaccine. As we
could see technology help us a lot but let see the other part of
the hand in this part we saw that people is less unproductive
and sometimes they has an addiction to the social medias or
videogames this makes that people become lazy and less
productive instead of becoming more productive as we said
before.
In this image we can appreciate that the person is a type of
slave of the smartphone this has a name and it's considered as
a phobia it's name is nomophobia and it is the irrational fear of
being with out your phone.
