1.WHAT IS THE FULL FORM OF ASPEN AND HISTORY OF ASPEN

PLUS?
Aspen comes from the original project: Advanced System for Process
Engineering (ASPEN) Project which was granted to MIT by US
Department of Energy in 1981 in order to build a software able to model
industrial scale chemical processes. It was later launched for private
use.
Aspen Plus (AP for short) is the leading Chemical Process Simulator in
the market (or at least in the Chemical Engineering World) AP is a
software that will allow the user to build a process model and then
simulate it using complex calculations (models, equations, math
calculations, regressions, etc)
AspenTech was founded on August 12, 1981 to commercialize the
technology. In 1982, the company released its first product, Aspen Plus,
commercial process simulation software that was the first of dozens of
innovations and industry firsts delivered by the company.
Founded in 1981, AspenTech was born out a joint research project
between the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and US
Department of Energy—called the Advanced System for Process
Engineering (ASPEN) Project.
On July 15, 2004, AspenTech was required by the Federal Trade
Commission to make divestitures in regard to an anti-trust ruling against
its acquisition of HyproTech. This included divestment of batch and
continuous simulation systems and integrated engineering software
business (AXSYS). In the same year, a class action lawsuit was filed
against Aspen Technology and its certain officers over issuance of
misleading statements and improper revenue recognition.
On November 24, 2004, the company restated results for the fiscal years
ended June 2000 through June 2004 after its audit committee
discovered the company improperly accounted for certain software
licenses. On March 15, 2005, the company announced that the Audit
Committee of the Company's Board of Directors had completed its
previously announced financial review and the company had restated its
financials for each of the fiscal years ended June 30, 2000 through June
30, 2004. The company's former CEO, David McQuillin, was sentenced
in 2007 to 6 months' house arrest and 3 years' probation after pleading
guilty to falsifying revenue figures.
Aspen Technology was delisted from the NASDAQ on February 19,
2008 for failing to meet financial transparency guidelines of the NASDAQ
exchange. In February 2010 the company was relisted on the NASDAQ
exchange.
In July 2019, Aspen Technology signed an agreement to acquire
Montreal-based Mnubo Inc.
In September 2020, Aspen Technology has partnered with Wood
(Aberdeen, Scotland). The collaboration will allow Aspen's Mtell clients
to create foretelling strategies focused on industrial AI and machine
learning.

Aspen Plus is actually a product from the american company Aspen

Technologies (AspenTech). You can even see their stock at
NASDAQ here. As you can imagine, they are doing just great!

From wikipedia: AspenTech wasFounded in 1981. It was born out a joint

research project between the Massachusetts Institute of Technology
(MIT) and US Department of Energy—an Advanced System for Process
Engineering (ASPEN) Project
Fun Fact: On July 15, 2004, AspenTech was required by the Federal
Trade Commission to make divestitures in regard to an anti-trust ruling
against its acquisition of HyproTech (they worked on HYSYS). This
included divestment of batch and continuous simulation systems and
integrated engineering software business (AXSYS).
Since then, AspenTech has been creating a lot of products, mostly in the
following branches:

 Process Simulation for Energy

 Process Simulation for Chemicals
 Advanced Process Control,
 Manufacturing Execution Systems,
 Petroleum Supply Chain
 Supply Chain Management
 and much more…
Of these, the most relevant software that we are going to talk about are

 Aspen Plus
 Aspen HYSYS
Both of them are Process Simulation Software.

2. WHAT IS ASPEN PLUS USED FOR?

Aspen Plus is the market-leading chemical process optimization
software used by the bulk, fine, specialty, & biochemical industries, as
well as the polymers industry for the design, operation, and optimization
of safe, profitable manufacturing facilities.
ASPEN is a process simulation software package widely used in
industry. Given a process design and an appropriate selection of
thermodynamic models, ASPEN uses mathematical models to predict
the performance of the process. This information can then be used in an
iterative fashion to optimize the design.

3. Introduction about aspen plus software?

Aspen Plus is a market-leading process modeling tool for conceptual
design, optimization, and
performance monitoring for the chemical, polymer, specialty chemical,
metals and minerals, and
coal power industries. Click “NRTL” and then built-in binary parameters
appear automatically
AspenTech is a global leader in asset optimization software helping the
world
leading industrial companies run their operations more safely, efficiently
and
reliably – enabling innovation while reducing waste and impact on the
environment.
Available Since 1979, Aspen has been famous for its annual film
festivals. The first of these, the annual Aspen Film Festival, hosts 200
films from scores of artists and aspiring independent filmmakers each
year. An incredible 90 percent of events associated with the festival are
free to the general public
Aspen Plus is a process modeling tool used for process monitoring,
optimization and conceptual design, especially by chemical process
industries. This is a simple course on Aspen Plus Simulation engine that
will teach one how to model the most common unit operations of a
chemical plant.

5. What are the uses and applications of ASPEN PLUS software.

HYSYS was first conceived and created by the Canadian company
Hyprotech, founded by researchers from the University of Calgary. The
HYSYS Version 1.1 Reference Volume was published in 1996. In May
2002, AspenTech acquired Hyprotech, including HYSYS. Following a
2004 ruling by the United States Federal Trade Commission, AspenTech
was forced to divest its Hyprotech assets, including HYSYS source
code, ultimately selling these to Honeywell. Honeywell was also able to
hire a number of HYSYS developers, ultimately mobilizing these
resources to produce UniSim. The divestment agreement specified that
Aspentech would retain rights to market and develop most Hyprotech
products (including HYSYS) royalty-free. As of late 2016, AspenTech
continues to produce HYSYS.
Aspen HYSYS (or simply HYSYS) is a chemical process simulator
currently developed by AspenTech used to mathematically model
chemical processes, from unit operations to full chemical plants and
refineries. HYSYS is able to perform many of the core calculations of
chemical engineering, including those concerned with mass balance,
energy balance, vapor-liquid equilibrium, heat transfer, mass transfer,
chemical kinetics, fractionation, and pressure drop. HYSYS is used
extensively in industry and academia for steady-state and dynamic
simulation, process design, performance modelling, and optimization.
