Technology and its negative

impact on humans

Introduction
People today are too addicted and dependent on tech: teenagers are

addicted to their phones, people are using their phones constantly, and

people who are on their phones all the time have mental health problems.
Topic 1: teens
“Just over half of U.S. teenagers (51%) report spending at least

four hours per day using a variety of social media apps such as

YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X,” (Rothwell).

On average, teens spend around 7 hours a day on their phones. “A U.S.

study found that 83% of teens use their phone daily, and that there’s

an addiction rate of 37%, with an average of 7-9 hours spent on their

phones,” (Davis).
A study looked at 13-year-olds and their social media intake. It was

reported that those who checked their social media from 50 to 100

times a day were found to be 37% more stressed, (Davis).

Teenagers who are addicted to their phones can have higher anxiety and

depression levels than those who aren’t addicted to their phones.

Topic 2: people are
using there phones
constantly
A poll was completed by 91 students, and about 68 of them said that

their phones have greatly affected their day-to-day lives. 65% said that

their phone usage has increased over the years and 24% said that it has

increased significantly, (Martinez-Malara).

Topic 3: mental
health
According to Moche.com, “In the absence of our devices we feel

disconnected and anxious to get back to the digital world we have

created for ourselves rather than trying to connect in the real

world,” (Davis).
Conclusion
People today are too addicted and dependent on tech. According to bankmycell.com,

“About 6.648 billion people in the world use smartphones; which equals 83.72% of the

world’s population,” (Kaufman). This is a lot of people, if they all are experiencing mental

health problems then the doctors will be overwhelmed. Technology is harming us in many

ways known and unknown. Stop relying on technology before it’s too late.
