potential solutions, prototyping wireframes, and testing prototypes in order to refine final interface
mockups.

User interfaces are the points of interaction between users and designs. User Interface Design refers to
the process of creating the visual and interactive elements of a digital product's interface. It focuses on
the look, feel, and interactivity of user-facing elements, aiming to facilitate efficient and enjoyable
interactions between users and digital systems.

UI design is often confused with User Experience (UX) design, but they are distinct yet complementary
disciplines. While UX design encompasses the entire user journey and overall experience, UI design

a. Data Flow Diagrams (DFDs)
A data flow diagram (DFD) maps out the flow of information for any process or system. It uses defined
symbols like rectangles, circles and arrows, plus short text labels, to show data inputs, outputs, storage
points and the routes between each destination. Data flowcharts can range from simple, even hand-
drawn process overviews, to in-depth, multi-level DFDs that dig progressively deeper into how the
data is handled. They can be used to analyse an existing system or model a new one. Like all the best
diagrams and charts, a DFD can often visually “say” things that would be hard to explain in words,
and they work for both technical and nontechnical audiences, from developer to CEO. That’s why
DFDs remain so popular after all these years. While they work well for data flow software and systems,
they are less applicable nowadays to visualizing interactive, real-time or database-oriented software or
systems. They are particularly useful for visualizing pipe-and-filter styles of architecture. Key
elements of DFDs include:
 Processes: Represented as circles or rounded rectangles.
 Data Stores: Shown as parallel lines or open-ended rectangles.
 External Entities: Depicted as rectangles.
 Data Flows: Represented by arrows.
DFDs are valuable for:
 Showing how data is processed at different stages
 Identifying the interfaces between system components
