Content • Courseon “Literature and Change in
Europe”:
Thiscourseaims to giveanin-depth view onnewways of approachingliterature and culture,
in anextendedsense, rangingfrom magazines to digital literature. The
strongemphasisonintermedialityaims to provide studentswith the
necessaryinnovativetoolsforunderstanding the changingparadigms in postmodernity. We
willespecially focus on the interplaybetweenliterature, oral and visual culture, as well as
to keyconcepts in cultural and textualanalysis, such as literacy, fictionality, transmediality,
popular culture, hybridity and creolisation. Finally, the context againstwhich we will place
these concepts is Europe: challengingclassicalconceptions of Europe as a geographical
(continental), homogeneousentity and epistemologicalframework, we will propose a
more fluid concept: Europe as a changing matrix of (cultural, political, economical)
valueswherepost-colonialmigrations and globalisation are quicklyreconfiguringitsold,
hegemonicpositionon the global map.
