THE PROS AND CONS OF USING MOBILE PHONES
Nowadays, the mobile phone plays a major role in our lives, which brings many benefits to us
but also contains some drawbacks. Both these sides will be discussed in this essay.
Generally, the mobile phone will certainly bring about a lot of advantages. First of all, the mobile
phone is considered the quickest means of communication in our daily life, we can contact easily
with our friends and our relative wherever by calling or sending messages. Second, the mobile
phone is also a means of entertainment for people. We can listen to music and play games on
mobile phone. Moreover, by using the latest apps for smartphones, we can access to the internet
to watch Film and check our profile in social networks and update our status wherever we are.
Finally, If we have a smartphone in hand, our studying becomes more effective such as looking
up dictionary, find out many sources of reference on the internet which is useful for studying.
On the other hand, the mobile phone is also many disadvantages. First, telephone user becomes
addicted their mobile phone if they are too dependent on it, moreover, the ability of human
communication is limited if the mobile phone is more present in some event such as class
meetings, on the bus, in the park…some people only focus on their phone without
communicating. The use of mobile phones too much will make people take a lot of time, it not
only influence on study results, makes students distraction but also it is a cause of disease about
eyes. Finally, we shouldn't use a mobile phone while we are driving because it can lead to traffic
accidents.
The main reason why mobile phones are bad for people is their influence on health. Mobile
phones are harmful to the heart, brain and the body in general. According to some researchers,
using the mobile phone too often may lead to serious brain damage. A proof of this statement is
the headache many people complain about after using the phone for too long, especially when
talking on it. The waves from the mobile phone move to the brain and cause a headache, which
may even result in poor memory.
A person using their phone too often can develop heart disease. What many people are not aware
of is that a person is not only exposed to the dangerous waves when holding the phone but also
when the phone is kept near the body. Consequently, if a person is keeping the phone near the
body or even under the pillow, this may cause serious health problems in the long run.
Also, people who spend a lot of time on the phone are more likely to be depressed than those
who do not. Using the phone before going to bed is known to cause restlessness and insomnia.
This is why people spend hours trying to go to sleep after spending a lot of time on their phones.
The waves of the phone hurt the brain, which causes difficulty falling asleep, and consequently,
sleep deprivation.
In conclusion, the mobile phone is the most important method of communication today, which
makes it inevitable and inseparable part of our lives. However, if it is helpful or not, this depends
on our ways of using it. It will be better if we use it for true purposes and at an appropriate time.
Nearly every person in the world has a mobile phone at this moment, using the many advantages
this technology provides us. However, learning the negative effects of phones is an extremely
important thing, especially when it comes to students. Being addicted to the mobile phone can
lead to some serious health, social, psychological, hygiene and even life-threatening problems.
Therefore, it is crucial for every student to understand that, even though phones are the trait of
the 20th century, they can be very damaging to people if used too much.
