1) Download Xampp and the latest version of Drupal. Install Xampp and create a "www" folder to extract the Drupal files into. 2) Configure the virtual host files (httpd-vhosts.conf and httpd.conf) to point the server to the new Drupal folder. 3) Create a database in PHPMyAdmin and provide the database credentials during the Drupal installation process. 4) Follow the Drupal installation steps to setup the site, including selecting the language, profile, and configuring the site name and login. The Drupal site is now installed.

Drupal Installation process in Windows using Xamp

Steps-:
(1).Download the setup of Xamp with Php 5.6

(2).Download the latest version of Drupal from the Drupal official website( at
present i.e Drupal-8.4.5)

(3).Now install the downloaded Xamp

(4).After installing Xamp create a folder in your C:/ drive named "www" and
inside this folder create a new project for example:drupaltraining
(5).After creating drupaltaining folder extract the zip file which you downloaded
form the drupal official website and then copy all the folder and files of that folder
into the drupaltraining folder.

(6).After copying files setup the virtual host for the machine.
(7).For this,firstly open the "httpd-vhosts.conf" file in
C:\xampp\apache\conf\extra
Now got at the bottom of the file and copy the virtual host configuration(the last
one) and paste at the end of the "httpd-vhosts.conf".
Then remove all the "#" tags from the the virtual host which you paste at the end of
file like this.

Then config the virtual host...

ServerAdmin webmaster@dummy-host2.example.com
DocumentRoot "C:/www/drupaltraining"
ServerName drupal.local
ErrorLog "C:/www/drupaltraining/error.log"
CustomLog "C:/www/drupaltraining/access.log" common

and save the file...
(8).Now open the next file which is in your "C:\xampp\apache\conf" named
"httpd.conf"

Open the file and search for the "DocumentRoot "C:/xampp/htdocs" " and copy
the Directory Block as show in below screenshot and paste it below the directory
block.
and change the path to "C:/www"

and save it.


(9).Now the open the third file i.e hosts file.For opening this file open the noted as
administrator.
and open the file from notepad which is running as administrator
"C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc"(choose all files form file types)

then,edit the localhost name as shown in screenshot..


and save this.
(10).Now open the Xamp control panel and and start the Apache and Mysql.

(11).After starting Apche And Mysql open your Browser and type your
servername in our case it is "drupal.local/" in the URL.After pressing enter your
first screen was look like as shown below..
(12).It is the first screen of installing your drupal on your machine.Choose the
Language as English.After that choose Profile as "Standard" and click save and
continue.

Then in the verify requirements don't do anything just go at the bottom and click
"continue anyway"
Now Setup the database.For that you need to create a database in Mysql.For this
Open the Xamp control panel and click on Mysql Admin button this will take you
the home page of the phpmyadmin.

Now create the new database in my case my database name is drupaltraining you
can choose any name..
For creating this Click on the "New" button on the left side of the home page.After
that write the database name as drupaltraining(in my case) and click create
button.

Now go to the browser and fill the details...in my case


Database type:Mysql
Database Name:drupaltraining
Database Username:root
Database Password:

After This the drupal site was installing this will take sometime to install
Now in configure site fill the details
and click save and continue.....(remember the username and password)
and here you go.....You installed the Drupal Perfectly!!!!
This is your first Page.....

Now you can work in the drupal.And build sites..............................
