FIRST STATION: JESUS IS CONDEMNED TO DEATH

STORYTELLER: At that time, with only two days left until the Passover, the high priests and teachers of the law were
looking for a way to arrest Jesus through some trick, and kill him. But some said:
ANÁS: Not during the party, so people don't get rowdy.
STORYTELLER: At that point, one of the twelve disciples, named Judas Iscariot, went to see the high priests to make a
proposal to them.
GUARD 1: Master, this man comes to bother you.
ANÁS: What does he want? Let it roll!
(Judas approaches Annas)
JUDAS: Would I like to know how much you would be willing to give me if I gave you Jesus?
(The priests look at each other, smile and throw Judas a bag of money)
ANÁS: Thirty silver coins will be what was agreed upon, no more.
STORYTELLER: And since then Judas was looking for the most opportune moment to hand Jesus over to them.
GUARD 1: Where is?
(Judas leaves with the Jewish guard to where the people are, and then with all of them go to where Jesus is)
STORYTELLER: On the first day of the festival in which unleavened bread was eaten, Jesus dined with his disciples; and
after singing the psalms they went to the Mount of Olives. And Jesus told them.
JESUS: You're all going to lose your faith in me tonight. This is what the Scriptures say: “I will kill the Shepherd,
and the sheep will be scattered.” But when I am resurrected, I will gather them again in Galilee.
Simon Peter, I have prayed especially for you so that you do not lack faith; Therefore, when you have
returned to me, help your brothers to stand firm.
PEDRO: My Lord, even if everyone loses their faith in you, I will never lose it. I am willing to go to jail with you,
even die with you.
JESUS: I assure you, Pedro, that this very night, before the rooster crows, you will have denied me three times.
PEDRO: Even if I have to die with you, I will never deny you, my Lord, ever.
ALL: Me neither, Lord!
JESUS: Enough talking! Let's go!
STORYTELLER: Then Jesus went with his disciples to a place called Gethsemane, and there he told them.
JESUS: Sit here, while I go a little higher to pray. Be alert! The enemy is lurking.
(The disciples sit, lie down and fall asleep)
STORYTELLER: But the disciples fell asleep.
When Jesus returned the third time, he found his disciples still sleeping, and he said to them:
JESUS: Are you still sleeping? Get up! The hour has come when the Son of Man is going to be delivered into the
hands of sinners. Come on! The one who will betray me is approaching.
STORYTELLER: Jesus was still speaking when Judas arrived accompanied by many people armed with swords and clubs.
They went on behalf of the chief priests and the elders of the people. Judas, the traitor, had given them
the password that whoever he kissed was the one they had to arrest. But since Jesus already knew
everything that was going to happen, he went ahead of them and asked them:
JESUS: Who are you looking for?
GUARD 1: We seek Jesus of Nazareth
(The guards beckon Judas to come closer to Jesus and give them the sign of who Jesus was; Judas tries to flee but the
guards push him)
JESUS: It's me. If they're looking for me, let these others go.
(Judas approaches Jesus and after greeting him, kisses him on the cheek)
JUDAS: Good night teacher!
JESUS: Judas, why do you come? With a kiss do you betray the Son of Man?
(The guards look at each other and make a gesture of approaching Jesus and preparing to tie his hands. All the disciples
flee, except Peter, who struggles with the soldiers and, taking the sword from the guard 2 and knocking off his helmet,
with a scream of fury, he cuts off his right ear. The other guards push Pedro. Jesus turns to him, while he heals the
guard's ear, and continues)
JESUS: Pedro! Keep the sword in its place, for all who kill with the sword will also die by the sword. Don't you
know that I could pray to my Father, and he would send me more than twelve armies of angels right
now? But in this case, how would the Scriptures that say that everything must happen this way be
fulfilled?
(Jesus addresses the people)
JESUS: And you, why have you come with swords and clubs to arrest me as if I were a bandit? Every day I have
been teaching in the Temple, but I was never arrested there. But it's clear that this is his night.
STORYTELLER: All this happened so that what the prophets said in the Scriptures could be fulfilled.
It was then that, from that moment, the disciples left Jesus alone and fled.
Those who had arrested Jesus took him to the house of Caiaphas, to be interrogated by Annas, the high
priest of that time. The teachers of the law and the elders of the people were also gathered there.
Peter followed Jesus at a distance and entered the courtyard of the high priest's house. He sat next to
the Temple guards, who were warming themselves by the fire, to see how it would all end.
The high priest Annas, Caiaphas' father-in-law, began to ask Jesus about his disciples and teachings.
ANÁS: So you are Jesus of Nazareth. They say you are King? Where is that kingdom of yours? Speaks! As far as I
know you are only the son of a carpenter. They brought you here as a blasphemer, don't you say
anything about it? Defend yourself!
JESUS: I have spoken publicly before everyone; I have always taught in the synagogues and in the Temple
where all Jews gather; so I haven't said anything secretly. Why are you asking me? Ask those who have
listened to me and let them tell them what I have spoken to them about.
(The guard approaches Jesus and after asking him the question, slaps him)
GUARD 1: Is that how you answer the high priest?
JESUS: If I have said something wrong, tell me what; But if not, why are you hitting me?
ANÁS: Let Caiaphas come; Let him question him.
STORYTELLER: Then Annas sent Jesus to Caiaphas.
The chief priests and the entire supreme council were looking for some false evidence to condemn Jesus
to death, but they could not find it, even though many people came forward and falsely accused him.
Finally two more showed up, who stated:
WITNESS 1: This man has said: “I can destroy the Temple of God and rebuild it in three days.”
WITNESS 2: Yes it's true! I also heard the same thing. Furthermore, he proclaims himself the Son of God.
(Caiaphas approaches Jesus)
CAIAPHAS: Don't you answer anything? What is this they are saying against you?
(Jesus silently bows his head. Caiaphas responds with his voice a little louder)
CAIAPHAS: In the name of the Living God, I command you to speak the truth. Tell us if you are the Messiah, the Son
of God.
JESUS: If I tell you yes, you won't believe me. And if I ask them questions, they won't answer me. But I tell you
that from now on the Son of Man will be sitting at the right hand of Almighty God, and coming among
the clouds of heaven.
CAIAPHAS: So you are the Son of God?
JESUS: You said it.
CAIAPHAS: (screams, tearing his clothes) Blasphemy! This man's words are an offense against God! What need do
we now have for more witnesses? We ourselves have just heard it from their own lips, what do you
think?
ALL: He is guilty! He must die! Yes, kill him!
STORYTELLER: And they spat in his face and beat him. Others hit him on the head, saying:
WITNESS 2: You who are the Messiah, guess who hit you!
STORYTELLER: Meanwhile, Peter was sitting outside in the courtyard, near the fire. At this, a servant approaches him
and says:
WOMAN 1: You also walked with Jesus, from Galilee.
PEDRO: No woman. I don't know what you're talking about.
(He goes to the door where another servant tells the others)
WITNESS 1: Look, this one was also with Jesus, the one from Nazareth. Even his way of speaking gives him away.
PEDRO: I swear I have never seen that man in my life!
STORYTELLER: Then, a group approaches, among which was a relative of the man whose ear Peter had cut off. And he
said:
WOMAN 2: I have seen you with him in the garden.
PEDRO: I already told you that I don't know that man! Enough! Leave me alone!
STORYTELLER: At that same moment a rooster crowed; Then the Lord turned and looked at Peter, and Peter
remembered that Jesus had said to him: “…before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times.”
And Peter left there and wept bitterly.
When dawn broke, all the chief priests and elders of the Jews agreed on a plan to kill Jesus. They took
him bound to the house of the Roman governor, Pontius Pilate.
As it was already beginning to dawn, the Jews did not enter the Palace, otherwise they would violate the
laws of ritual purity and then they would not be able to eat the Passover dinner. Therefore, Pilate went
out to speak to them and asked them:
PILATE: What are they accusing this man of?
ANÁS: If he weren't a criminal, we wouldn't have brought him to you.
PILATE: Take him away and judge him according to your own law.
ANÁS: Consul, you know that we do not have the right to sentence anyone to death.
PILATE: To dead? What has this man done to deserve the death penalty?
CAIAPHAS: We have found this man rampaging through our nation. He says that we should not pay taxes to the
emperor and, furthermore, he affirms that he is the Messiah, the King.
(Pilate orders Jesus to be brought to his presence; he orders that he be left alone with him)
PILATE: Are you the King of the Jews?
JESUS: Are you asking that on your own, or because others have told you about me?
PILATE: Why would you ask that? Am I Jewish? Those of your nation and the chief priests are the ones who
handed you over to me. They want me to execute you, why? What have you done? You are king?
JESUS: My kingdom is not of this world. If I were, I would have people at my service who would fight so that I
would not be handed over to the Jews. But my kingdom is not from here.
PILATE: So are you King?
JESUS: You said it, I am King. I was born and came into the world to tell what the truth is. And everyone who
belongs to the truth listens to my voice.
PILATE: The truth!... And what is the truth?
(Pilate leaves and addresses Annas)
PILATE: I have interrogated the prisoner and find no reason to condemn him.
ANÁS: With his teachings he is stirring up the entire town. It started in Galilee, and now it continues to do so
here in Judea.
STORYTELLER: Hearing this, Pilate asked if the man was from Galilee. And when he knew that Jesus was from Herod's
jurisdiction, he sent him to him. When Herod saw Jesus, he was very happy, because he had heard a lot
about him and he hoped that he would perform a miracle for him. He asked him many questions, but
Jesus did not answer him. The priests and teachers of the law were also there, and they accused him
with great insistence. Then Herod and his soldiers treated him with contempt; and they made fun of him
by dressing him in luxurious clothes, like those of a king. Then Herod sent him back to Pilate.
Pilate called together the chief priests, the authorities, and the people and said to them:
PILATE: You bring this man to me saying that he stirs up the people; But I have already questioned him in front
of you and I have not found him guilty of any of the causes of which you accuse him. Nor does Herod,
since he has returned it to us. You see, he hasn't done anything that deserves the death penalty. I'm
going to punish him and then I'll set him free.
ALL: Away with that one! Crucify him! Crucify him!
STORYTELLER: And while the chief priests and elders accused him, Jesus made no reply. That's why Pilate asked him:
PILATE: Don't you hear everything they are saying against you?
(Jesus silently bows his head. Pilate makes a gesture of being very surprised; then he looks at the people and the high
priests)
PILATE: I still don't find any crime in this man. But it is your custom that every year during your Easter festival,
you release a prisoner, the one you choose. (Turns to one of his guards) - Bring me Barabbas!
STORYTELLER: Pilate had realized that the chief priests had handed Jesus over out of envy. And that people would
condemn Barabbas and not Jesus; But while they were bringing him, the chief priests and elders
convinced the crowd to ask for the release of Barabbas and the death of Jesus:
(When Barabbas is brought to him, Pilate returns his gaze to the people)
PILATE: Let's see, do you want me to release Jesus, whom you call the Messiah, the King of the Jews?
CAIAPHAS: That's not the Messiah! He's an imposter! A blasphemer! Set Barabbas free!
ALL: Set Barabbas free! Yes, set Barabbas free!
(Pilate signals to the soldiers to release Barabbas)
PILATE: And what do they want me to do with Jesus of Nazareth?
CAIAPHAS: Crucify him!
ALL: Crucify him! Crucify him!
PILATE: No! But what harm has he done? I don't find anything in him that deserves the death penalty. I already
told you, I'm going to punish him and then I'll set him free.
ALL: Nothing! Crucify him! Crucify him!
STORYTELLER: And they insisted loudly that they crucify him.
The governor's soldiers took Jesus to the courtyard of the palace, called the praetorium, and gathered
all the troops around him. They took off his clothes, dressed him in a red cloak, and placed a crown
woven of thorns on his head and a staff in his right hand. Then they knelt before him, bowing to him;
They spat on him and hit him on the head with the same rod, mockingly saying:
GUARD 1: Long live the king of the Jews! Hail the King! (sarcastic laughter)
STORYTELLER: For the last time, Pilate went out again, trying to persuade the people. And he told them:
PILATE: Look, here I bring you, so that you realize that I do not find any crime in him.
(Jesus comes out with the crown of thorns on his head, dressed in that red cape and bloody from the whipping)
PILATE: There you have this man.
ALL: Nothing! Crucify him! Crucify him!
PILATE: Isn't this enough? Well, take him and crucify him. I don't find any crime in him.
CAIAPHAS: We have a law, and according to our law he must die, because he has posed as the Son of God.
STORYTELLER: When Pilate heard this he was even more afraid. He looked at Jesus and asked:
PILATE: (In a low voice) Where are you from?
(Jesus silently bows his head)
PILATE: Tell me! You're going to not answer? You know that I have the power to crucify you, as well as to set you
free.
JESUS: You would have no power over me if God had not allowed you to. Therefore, he who handed me over to
you is more guilty of sin than you.
STORYTELLER: From that moment, Pilate looked for a way to set Jesus free; but the Jews shouted at him:
WITNESS 1: If you let him free you are no friend of Caesar! Anyone who calls himself a king is an enemy of Caesar!
STORYTELLER: Pilate, upon hearing this, seated Jesus on the tribunal, in the place that in Hebrew was called Gabatá,
which means “The Cobblestone.” It was almost noon, the day before the Passover, and Pilate said to
them:
PILATE: There you have your King!
ALL: Out! Out! Crucify him! Crucify him!
PILATE: Am I going to crucify your King?
ANÁS: We have no King but Caesar! You must crucify him!
ALL: Crucify him! Crucify him!
STORYTELLER: When Pilate saw that he was achieving nothing, but that the uproar of the people was increasing, he
ordered water to be brought and washed his hands in front of everyone, saying:
PILATE: I am not responsible for the death of this man; That's up to you.
WITNESS 1: We and our children take responsibility for his death!
STORYTELLER: Then Pilate handed Jesus over to them to be crucified.

SECOND STATION: JESUS CARRIES THE CROSS

STORYTELLER: After Jesus was handed over by Pilate to the Jews to be crucified, the soldiers, still mocking him, took off
his red cloak, put his own clothes on him, and took him away to crucify him. And he, carrying the cross
on his shoulders, was taken to the place called “De La Calavera”, which in Hebrew is called Golgotha,
along with two evildoers.
They accompanied their Mother from afar; Maria Magdalena; Mary, the mother of James and Joseph;
and Salome. Also John, one of his disciples, went with them.
Many people on the road insulted him; while others cried and screamed in sadness for him.

THIRD STATION: JESUS FALLS UNDER THE WEIGHT OF THE CROSS

STORYTELLER: The agony in the garden, the sleepless night, the wounds of the flagellations and the crown of thorns,
make Jesus fall, for the first time, under the weight of the cross.

FOURTH STATION: JESUS MEETS HIS MOTHER

STORYTELLER: María can't take it anymore when she sees her son on the ground and runs to meet him.
MARIA: (Throwing himself towards Jesus) My son! Here I am!
GUARD 3: Who is she?
GUARD 1: She is the mother of the Galilean!
STORYTELLER: Mary remembered the words of the prophet Simeon, when Jesus was still newborn: “Look, this child is
destined for many in Israel to fall or rise. He will be a sign that many will reject, so that the intentions of
many hearts will be revealed. But all this will be for you like a sword that pierces your own soul.”

FIFTH STATION: JESUS IS HELPED BY THE CYRENEAN

STORYTELLER: Seeing Jesus exhausted because of how badly he was being mistreated, one of the guards saw a man
coming from the field; And as he passed by, they forced him to help carry Jesus' cross.
GUARD 1: You, come here! what is your name? where are you from?
CYRENEAN: My name is Simón, I am a native of Cyrene. What do you want of me?
GUARD 1: This criminal cannot carry his cross alone. You will help him! Come on, let's go!
(Simon initially resists, stating that it is not his business; the guards take him and push him and force the Cyrenean to
approach Jesus and help him stand up, accompanying him to the end)

SIXTH STATION: A WOMAN CLEANS THE FACE OF JESUS

STORYTELLER: A pious tradition tells how, when passing through the crowd, a woman made her way through the
rowdy crowd and, approaching Jesus, wiped his face with a veil, and that Jesus, to pay for that service,
would leave the words printed on Veronica's veil. features of his face.
VERONICA: Master, allow me to clean your face!... (moment after the guards separate her from Jesus, with an
attitude of astonishment) My God! A miracle!

SEVENTH STATION: JESUS FALLS FOR THE SECOND TIME

STORYTELLER: Despite the help of the Cyrenean, Jesus faints and falls to the ground for the second time.
CYRENEAN: Almost there. It will be over soon (Help Jesus stand up)

EIGHTH STATION: JESUS CONSOLES THE DAUGHTERS OF JERUSALEM

STORYTELLER: On the way, Jesus met many people and many women who cried and screamed in sadness for him; They
followed him... But Jesus looked at them and said to them:
JESUS: Women of Jerusalem, do not weep for me, but for yourselves and for your children, for the days will
come when it will be said: “Blessed are those who cannot have children, the women who did not give
birth or have children to raise.” Then people will begin to say to the mountains: “Fall on us!”, and to the
hills: “Hide us!” Because if they do all this with the green tree, what won't they do with the dry one?

NINTH STATION: JESUS FALLS FOR THE THIRD TIME

STORYTELLER: The road to Golgotha climbs a rough slope. The walk is quite difficult through the slippery and narrow
streets of Jerusalem. The extreme weakness of Jesus, the midday heat, the climb, the obstacles on the
way, the brutality of the executioners, the mockery of the spectators and above all the weight of the
cross, explain this third fall of Jesus.

TENTH STATION: JESUS IS STRIPPED OF HIS GARMENTS

(The Cyrenean is pushed away by the soldiers and walks away scared and crying)
STORYTELLER: When they arrived at Golgotha, Jesus, humiliated, was stripped of his clothes. They immediately gave
him wine mixed with gall to drink; but Jesus, after tasting it, did not want to drink it.

ELEVENTH STATION: JESUS IS NAILED TO THE CROSS

STORYTELLER: After undressing him; Jesus was placed on the cross and nailed.
The soldiers, immediately afterwards, began to draw lots for Jesus' clothes to distribute them to him.
Then they sat there to watch him. And above his head they put a sign, where the cause of his
condemnation was written: “This is Jesus of Nazareth, the King of the Jews.” And the high priests sent to
Pilate to complain that he should not have written “King of the Jews”, but rather, “he who claims to be
King of the Jews”. But Pilate answered them: “What I have written is written.”
Two bandits were also crucified with him, one on his right and one on his left. And those who passed by
insulted him, shaking their heads, saying:
WITNESS 1: Hey you! that you tear down the Temple and in three days you raise it again! If you are the Son of God,
save yourself and get off the cross!
STORYTELLER: In the same way the chief priests and the teachers of the law along with the elders mocked him:
ANÁS: He saved others, but he cannot save himself. He is the King of Israel, so let him come down from the
cross and we will believe in him!
CAIAPHAS: He has put his trust in God: well, let God save him now, if he really wants it! Hasn't he told us that he is
the Son of God?
JESUS: Father, forgive them because they dont know what they are doing.
STORYTELLER: One of the criminals who was hanging next to him also insulted him:
CRIMINAL 1:If you are the Messiah, save yourself and save us too!
CRIMINAL 2:Do you not fear God, you who are in the same punishment? We are suffering rightly, because we are
paying the just punishment for what we have done; but this man did nothing wrong. (Directing his gaze
at Jesus) . I only ask you Lord, remember me when you enter your Kingdom.
JESUS: I assure you that today you will be with me in paradise.
STORYTELLER: Next to the cross of Jesus was his mother, and his mother's sister, Mary, wife of Cleopas, and Mary
Magdalene. When Jesus saw his mother, and next to her the disciple whom he loved very much; He
spoke to both of them:
(Only María and Juan approach; the soldier lets them pass)
JESUS: Woman, there you have your son... (and looking at the disciple) There you have your mother.
STORYTELLER: Since then, that disciple welcomed her into his home.

TWELFTH STATION: JESUS DIES ON THE CROSS

STORYTELLER: From noon until three in the afternoon, the entire land was in darkness. At that same hour, Jesus
shouted loudly:
JESUS: Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?
STORYTELLER: Which means: “My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?” Some of those who were there heard
it and said:
WITNESS 2: This one is calling the prophet Elijah.
STORYTELLER: After this, as Jesus knew that everything had already been fulfilled, and that the Scripture might be
fulfilled, he said:
JESUS: I'm thirsty!
STORYTELLER: Immediately one of the guards ran to get a sponge, soaked it in sour wine, tied it to a reed, and brought
it to him to drink. But the others said:
WITNESS 1: Leave him, let's see if Elías comes to save him.
STORYTELLER: Jesus drank the bitter wine and said:
JESUS: Everything is completed!
STORYTELLER: And bowing his head to heaven he gave another loud cry saying:
JESUS: Father, in your hands I entrust my spirit!
STORYTELLER: And Jesus died…. Everyone kneeling in silence.
At that moment the veil of the Temple was torn in two, from top to bottom.
The earth shook and the rocks broke.
When the Roman captain who was there watching Jesus felt the earthquake and saw everything that
was happening, he was filled with fear and said:
GUARD 3: Truly this man was the Son of God!

THIRTEENTH STATION: JESUS IS TAKEN DOWN FROM THE CROSS

STORYTELLER: It was the day before Passover, and the Jews did not want the bodies left on the crosses during the
Sabbath; Because precisely that Saturday was very solemn. Therefore, they asked Pilate to order the
legs of those crucified to be broken and the bodies removed from there.
The soldiers then went and broke the legs of the first one, and also of the other who was crucified next
to Jesus. But as they approached Jesus, they saw that he was already dead. That's why they didn't break
his legs. However, one of the soldiers pierced his side with a spear, and blood and water immediately
came out.
(A soldier breaks the legs of the first, then the second, when he approaches Jesus he says:)
GUARD 1: This one is already dead!
GUARD 4: (Throwing a spear at him) Make sure!
(The soldier kneels in surprise, while others flee the scene)
STORYTELLER: After this, Jesus was taken down from the cross and handed over to his Mother.

FOURTEENTH STATION: JESUS IS BURIED

STORYTELLER: When it was already evening and the Jewish Sabbath was about to begin, a rich man named Joseph
arrived, a native of Arimathea, an important member of the supreme council, who had also become a
follower of Jesus, but in secret, for fear of the authorities. Jewish.
Joseph went to see Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. And Pilate, surprised at his death, ordered
that it be given to him.
Nicodemus was also with him, who arrived with about thirty kilos of a perfume, a mixture of myrrh and
aloe. So Joseph and Nicodemus took the body of Jesus, wrapped it in a clean linen sheet soaked in that
perfume, and placed it in a new tomb, near the place on Joseph's property, which he had dug in the
rock. After covering the entrance to the tomb with a large stone, they left.
