that exist.

III.CAPABILITIES
Upon completion, the student will be able to make use of the services offered by the
remote storage, as is the case with Google Drive.

IV.THEORETICAL FOUNDATION

4.1 Introduction
Nowadays, due to digital transformation
that people are experiencing like companies, the
the volume of information that is handled is each
ever larger. The data that is generated is
find in different digital formats, Figure 1: Internet

A good information storage system, as well as its maintenance is

important to preserve the integrity, privacy, and availability of information.
(Alegre & García-Cervigón, 2011).

4.2 Remote storage

When we refer to the term 'remote' it is mentioned that it is very far away or very
apart in time or space (RAE, 2020).
Storage is considered remote when the device where we are going to store it
information is not on the team we are working with, that is, it is not a
local storage (Alegre & García-Cervigón, 2011).
Nowadays there are many providers that supply this type of services,
provided users with the ability to store and copy information from their
computers.

4.3 Advantages of remote storage

Information can be accessed anywhere and with any device.
It saves hardware capacity on the computer.
There is no need to worry about software updates.
Offers an unlimited amount of space.
The data, keys, and files are stored securely.
Remote backups do not require user intervention, that is,
the user does not have to change tapes, label CDs, transport physically, or execute
other steps manually.

4.4 Disadvantages of remote storage

Depending on the internet speed available, some mechanisms of

confidential, that is why data encryption is recommended.

In some cases, important information.
Obligation of access to the internet
The data does not reside on our computer so there could be a leak of
information.

4.5 Types of remote storage

There are many types of remote storage, for example:
NAS (network-attached storage).
SAN (storage area network).
Cloud storage.

4.5.1 NAS (network-attached storage)

The discussed storage on NAS (Network Attached Storage) is used
to share storage capacity across a network of devices
computer scientists who are part of it through the use of protocols, which also
they allow sharing files and resources, such as printers, scanners, among others
network equipment (Caballero & Clavero, 2016).

4.5.2 SAN (storage area network).

The Storage Area Network (SAN) is a type of solution
data storage, where multiple devices are connected
storage on a separate high-speed network for purposes of
storage. The storage devices of the SAN are located in your
own network and connect using a high transmission technology like a channel of
fiber. SANs can be expensive and difficult to manage, but they are very useful for
companies that need to share information through applications and platforms,
consolidate your storage resources, providing quick access to data to
users who are located in dispersed sites. (Laudon, 2012)

4.5.3 Cloud storage.

Cloud storage,
cloud storage is a model
of storage based data
in computer networks, where the
data is hosted in spaces of
virtualized storage, by which

Cloud storage refers to the capacity of
storage. The idea is to have the possibility of storing information in
virtual spaces outside the hard drives hosted on local PCs. With cloud
storage, also the data resides on the Web, dynamically allocated among several
data centers to ensure their storage and delivery wherever they are
required as quickly as possible. That is to say, users never know where they are
stored their data at a given moment. Geoff Tudor, co-founder of Nirvanix,
a recently introduced company in this market, compares cloud storage to the service
electric: after all, when you turn on the light, you don't exactly know where it is
originates each electron.

4.6 How does cloud storage work?

Cloud storage is purchased from an external cloud provider that owns and operates it.
data storage capacity and distributes it through the Internet with a model of
pay per use or you can try its free version.
These cloud storage providers manage capacity, security, and
durability to ensure that your applications around the world have access to the data.
Applications gain access to cloud storage through protocols
traditional storage or directly through an API. Many providers offer
complementary services designed to help collect, manage, protect, and analyze
large-scale data.

4.7 Cloud storage services

There are many free alternatives to store files in the cloud, in this guide we are going to
to know the following:

4.7.1 Dropbox
Dropbox is an American company that provides a
cloud storage service. Currently
has over 500 million registered users.
The service allows users to store and synchronize
online files, between computers, share files and
folders with other users on tablets and mobiles.
There are free and paid versions, each with various options.
available for Android, Windows Phone, Blackberry, and iOS (Apple).

4.7.2 Google Drive

The multinational company Google developed in 2012

a storage service system. Previously
this system was called 'Google Docs' and today in
day is known as "Google Drive", which allows us to
store virtual information securely.
Each user has 15 gigabytes of free space.
to store your files, expandable through different payment plans.
It is accessible through the website from computers and has applications for
Android and iOS that allow editing documents and spreadsheets.

4.7.3 iCloud

iCloud is an Apple platform and a system for

cloud storage. iCloud is a cloud that offers you
5 GB of free storage to its Mac and iOS customers.

It is a platform for editing and sharing documents and allows users

store data to later access it from any device.

4.7.4 OneDrive
OneDrive is a storage service
Microsoft that works as a cloud. This will allow you
edit and share files or documents.
