What is ?
The data collection sheet, also known as record sheets, is designed in the form of a table to collect,
organize, classify, verify and file in a systematic way, order simple, safe and reliable general
information for any organization. Its main utility is employment. of data to examine a given
phenomenon, it is important that the data collection method of analysis guarantees correct
interpretation to determine if it is the phenomenon we are studying.
The characteristics that a data collection sheet must present are:
Simplicity: it must allow data to be recorded in a simple and direct way, so that the people who
have to collect the data can do so without any problem
Flexibility : the way the data is presented allows it to be used for multiple analyzes and to answer
subsequent questions
Availability: allows data to be gathered in an orderly manner and available for any subsequent
analysis
ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES
ADVANTAGES: More accurate data, less data variation, less employee distraction, less employee
paperwork, less biased reporting, less time to analyze data
DISADVANTAGES: a well-prepared auditor is necessary to review the data collection sheets

TYPES OF DATA COLLECTION SHEETS
Quantifiable data collection sheet : It is the one that collects the numbers of defects and is made
by two decisions: the FIRST is how the data is collected and is given by the type of defects, type of
machine, the operator or the shift and the SECOND for the time they collect it, be it days, hours or
months
Measurable data collection sheet: used to classify the relative data of measurable magnitudes
such as weight and dimension and represent them according to their frequency distribution.
Data collection sheet for defect situation : used to quantify or classify the defects presented by
the products, this gives us important clues to improve the process
Sheet used as a checklist: these are formats created to carry out repetitive activities, control
compliance with a list of requirements or collect data in an orderly and systematic manner. It is
used to make systematic checks
Synthesis data collection sheet: collects data for several days in which relative data from various
machines using different raw materials is recorded and for the next one preparing different sheets
for each sample
