TO START, I WANT TO INTRODUCE

MYSELF
Hello,

Thank you for downloading our BASIC KIT FOR LEARNING GERMAN and for being interested in learning this
beautiful language.
Before I start I would like to introduce myself:
My name is Anja and I am the founder of ZALOA Languages. ZALOA Languages is a company based in Mexico that
offers language learning with native teachers! Our native teachers not only teach you grammar and correct your way
of speaking, but they also share with you their culture, their way of thinking, working and make you discover another
part of the world! "Deutsch mit Zaloa" is our community for learning German. Thousands of people have already
successfully learned German with us and our GO!German program.

On social media I call myself "Anja from Germany" and as my name suggests, I am originally from Germany, but I
actually left my home country over 11 years ago to teach German in different parts of the world (and learn new
languages myself).
Having learned more than 10 languages, I am convinced that everyone can learn German or any other language
they set their mind to, you just have to forget about the learning strategies they teach you at school and use more
efficient ones!

For this reason we have created this BASIC KIT FOR LEARNING GERMAN for you, because we like to share our
culture and we want to help you with your learning by finding lots of tips, practical things and also useful information.

Germany is running out of qualified personnel. In

Germany, almost 34 million people have a permanent

vacancies continues to increase. The baby boomer
generation is retiring and the number of people of

changes. More and more companies are complaining
about a shortage of skilled workers. This has become
one of the biggest business risks for the German
economy. There is a shortage of specialist personnel in

new workers every year. The medical and nursing sector
is in high demand and is constantly seeking new

LIVING IN THE COUNTRY
It is always easier and better to learn a language in the country of origin. Inevitably, you have to strike up a conversation
with other natives at some point. You will hear the language live and everywhere. You will automatically learn the correct
way to deal with it and the correct pronunciation. Of course, it is not necessary to move there directly. A language trip or
a language course is the best way to start, also to get to know the country and its people first.

LEARN VOCABULARY WITH APPS

There are many useful apps for practicing particular vocabulary. These can help you expand your vocabulary, learn
correct spelling and pronunciation. But be careful, many applications do not convey sufficient basic grammar knowledge.

WATCH MOVIES OR SERIES IN GERMAN

Listening and reading are important parts of learning a language. Movies and series can help you learn the right
language. It doesn't matter if it's in the original with German subtitles or in German with subtitles in your language. Both
are useful for those who already have a basic level.

TAKE CLASSES
In classes, the teacher can adapt directly to the student and can work on their strengths and weaknesses. Especially at
higher levels, classes are recommended when it comes to having fluent conversations and using grammar correctly.
Classes, of course, have their price, but they are worth their weight in gold with a good teacher.

GRAMMAR VIDEO COURSES

Goal Setting Plan Page 11

SET GOALS
One strategy that will lead you to success is to have a plan with established goals. Following goals helps you turn
your dream into reality because it gives you a purpose, a direction and when you achieve these goals, a meaning and
motivation to continue.

Important: Your goals should be topic-related achievements, not time-related ones. Time is part of “how I am going
to achieve my goal,” but it is not a goal in itself. For example:

Study every day 30 min that is NOT a goal!

Complete level A1.1. from GO! that IS a goal!

German

Time to reach goal:

2 months
Goal Setting Plan Page 12
Goal Setting Plan Page 13

HOW ARE YOU GOING TO SET YOUR

GOALS?
To set your goals and give them meaning, you will need to go through 3 steps:

STEP 1: LONG-TERM GOAL (1-2 YEARS)

Start with this goal to have a vision. This goal doesn't have to be so specific, the idea here is to have a perspective. If
you are a beginner right now, this goal could be:

be able to communicate with native speakers in one year*

STEP 2: MEDIUM-TERM GOAL (1 – 6 MONTHS)

This goal should be more specific. Think about your long-term goal. What does this goal mean to you and how can
you achieve it? If you want to be able to communicate with native speakers, you should be at least at level A2-B1. If
you follow the structure of GO!German, you would have to work on 4 levels (A1.1, A1.2, A2.1 and A2.2). This way
you would have 2-3 months per level (considering that sometimes you will be on vacation or have other things to do
that do not always allow you to focus 100% on your German goals)

complete level A1.1 in 2 months*

goals
Goal Setting Plan Page 14

STEP 3: SHORT-TERM GOALS (1 WEEK – 1 MONTH)

Here you can already orient yourself towards your medium-term goal. If you want to complete level A1.1 with 20
sessions in 2 months, you would have to do 10 sessions per month or 2-3 sessions per week. Every week you should
adapt your goals to your schedule and the other tasks you have in life. A short-term goal could be for example:

work sessions 1-3 this week (approx. 5 hours in total)*

The great thing about the German GO! system is that the levels and sessions give you a structure directly. You don't
have to think about "what's the next thing I need to learn?" because the structure we developed is a proven structure
that thousands of people have had great success with.

If you are not yet familiar with GO!German, you can request more information here and put your name on the
waiting list.

of goals

RECOMMENDATIONS
• Always keep in mind your vision / your long-term goal
Goal Setting Plan Page 15

• Be realistic with your goals to avoid frustration (no one learns a language in 1 month, but
step by step and with realistic goals you can achieve it successfully)

• Review your goals every week and every month, if you can. Eventually you will have to
make adjustments, unforeseen events happen, it's okay, just please don't give up.

• Set measurable goals: If you can't measure your goals, it will be harder to achieve them.

• Share your goals to inspire more people and to find compadres and comadres with whom you
could form a team.

• Be proud of yourself when you achieve a goal, also share your successes (first sentences
you write or say in German, quiz results, certificates, etc.)
